About Tezpur Airport

Tezpur Airport (IATA: TEZ), also known as Salonibari Airport, is a domestic airport that serves the northeastern state of Assam. The airport, located around 9.1 km from the city centre, is administered and operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). The British Royal Indian Air Force established the airstrip at Tezpur Airport in 1942, with the United States Army utilising it as a heavy bomber base during WWII. Following the war, the airport was transformed into an operational aviation base used for commercial purposes. Tezpur Airport has a single terminal operating domestic flights only. At any given time, the domestic terminal can accommodate roughly 400 people. Apart from a single boarding gate, the domestic terminal contains two check-ins and one security counter. Facilities like medical services, a childcare room, wheelchair accessibility, a prayer room, porterage service, currency exchange, trolleys, ATMs, and VIP and business facilities are available at the airport.

Tezpur, a mediaeval town in Assam's Sonitpur District, is the largest economic and business centre in North Assam.
