Most airlines have defined specific security guidelines for passenger luggage. These include a list of items passengers are allowed to bring on a flight, packing tips, and other relevant baggage-related information. Please follow these guidelines while packing for your Dehradun to Delhi flight to avoid delays during boarding. You can drop off your check-in baggage at the airline’s counter.

Usually, the permitted weight of your check-in baggage depends on the airline you have chosen to fly with and the class of travel. On most domestic flights, the standard baggage weight allowed per passenger is 15 kg (1 piece only). Additional baggage of 10 kg may be allowed if you have booked multiple seats. In some cases, additional baggage may attract extra charges that must be paid according to the rates set by the airline.

Note that this allowance differs for Air India. Air India allows check-in baggage up to 40 kg for First Class passengers, 35 kg for Business Class passengers, and 25 kg for Economy Class passengers domestically. Read the airline’s baggage allowance policy before you travel.

Hand Baggage

One handbag weighing up to 7 kg and measuring not more than 115 cm (L + W + H) is allowed per passenger on domestic flights, including flights from Dehradun to Delhi. The dimensions of your hand baggage must not exceed 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm. For safety, handbags must be placed under the seat in front or inside the overhead bin.

In addition to the one piece of hand baggage permitted, you are allowed another personal item such as a purse or a small laptop bag (up to or less than 3 kg).

Note that this allowance differs for Air India. Air India allows cabin baggage weighing up to 8 kg for Economy Class passengers and 12 kg for Business Class and First Class passengers domestically.

Things to Keep in Mind for a Hassle-free Flying Experience
  • Do not carry any items classified as prohibited or dangerous on Dehradun to Delhi flights.
  • Put all the carry-on liquids in 100 ml or smaller containers.
  • Remember all the contents of your checked-in baggage and hand luggage.
  • Keep medicines, important documents, cash, and valuables in your handbag. If required, please carry a medical prescription.
  • Reach the airport in time to avoid any last-minute rush ahead of your Dehradun to Delhi flight. Usually, reaching the airport two hours before your flight’s scheduled departure for domestic flights and four hours before international flights is recommended.
  • Keep your laptop, spare lithium batteries, power banks, and other electronics handy, as these items must be deposited for security screening. Remember to carry such items in your hand luggage instead of your checked-in baggage on flights from Dehradun to Delhi.
  • Carry a printed copy of your flight ticket or an e-ticket along with a government-issued photo ID. These will be checked at the airport’s entrance. The following photo IDs are accepted:
    • Aadhar card
    • PAN card
    • Voter’s ID card
    • Passport
  • Bring evidence for any metallic medical implants in your body as these might set off the alarms at the security check.
