About Port Blair Airport

The Port Blair International Airport is also known as Veer Savarkar International Airport. It is named after the freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar who was kept in the cellular jail in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, for 10 years. The airport is mainly a customs airport; however, it also shares a civil enclave that is used for domestic and international flights and the Indian Navy. It is located about 2 km south of the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Port Blair.

The airport has a runway that is 3290 metres long and can accommodate narrow aircraft like the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737. The passenger terminal is about 6100 sq km in area and can accommodate up to 400 passengers at a time, but the new terminal under construction will be able to handle 1200 domestic and international travellers.

The majority of aircraft are operated by the navy, except general flights, which come under the purview of the Airport Authority of India. There is only one runway that is collectively used by everyone. Moreover, there is one terminal that can cater to more than 600 passengers at any given time.

The Veer Savarkar International Airport provides many facilities for the comfort of passengers, such as an information desk, eateries, restrooms, rental cabs, and souvenir shops. Jagannath Temple

Mecca Masjid

Sultan Muhammad Qutb Shah began construction on the Mecca Masjid in 1614, and it was finished by Aurangzeb in 1693. This mosque, made from native granite, is not only the largest in Hyderabad but also one of India’s biggest. The tombs of all the Nizams dating back to 1803 are shown in the arched gallery.
