Chandigarh Airport, also known as Shaheed Bhagat Singh Airport (IATA Code: IXC), is located in the Mohali district of Punjab. The airport is approximately 21 km from Chandigarh's sector 17 bus stand. Maharaja Umaid Singh founded the Jodhpur Flying Club in a tiny airport near his Chittar Palace in the 1920s. It flourished over the following 30 years and was even used as an airstrip by the Royal Air Force during WWII. The airfield was rebuilt in 1950, and the IAF Flying College was stationed there until 1965.
