Coimbatore Airport (IATA code: CJB) is also known as Coimbatore International Airport. It is located at Avinashi Road and is the 15th largest airport in India in terms of aircraft movement. Coimbatore Airport was constructed in 1940. It initially functioned as a civil airport. In 1987, a newly modernised airport was reopened to accommodate bigger aircraft such as Boeing 737. In 2010, new international and domestic divisions were added to the existing common terminal. Since 2008, the airport has had an Instrument Landing System (ILS).
