This was our 3rd time staying at this amazing property. From the time you walk into the place you feel a relaxed peacefulness. Our accommodations were amazing with beautiful views. The food was special, the stand out was our meal at Saffron. The staff were always gracious and very accommodating. The boat ride to the beach through the canals with cocktails as we arrived was a nice touch. Definitely look forward to our return.

Our experience at the Banyan Tree Hotel in Playa Del Carmen was truly extraordinary. As honeymooners, we were delighted by the luxurious resort lifestyle, which included a private villa complete with a personal swimming pool. Getting around the expansive property was a breeze thanks to the availability of bicycles and golf carts. The culinary experience was exceptional, with a wide array of delectable Mexican dishes that satisfied our taste buds. Exploring the breathtaking Mayakoba lagoons and encountering the local wildlife during the complimentary boat tour added to the charm of our stay. The spa offered rejuvenating treatments, allowing us to relax and unwind. Finally, the Sands restaurant and pool deck, situated right on the stunning white sandy beach of the crystal blue Caribbean Sea, provided an unforgettable setting for relaxation and enjoyment. We highly recommend the Banyan Tree Hotel for an indulgent and unforgettable stay in Playa Del Carmen.

Absolutely stunningly beautiful hotel. Rooms were huge and well furnished. Food at the restaurants was excellent. Staff was so helpful, kind and personable. My only two complaints are that it is incredibly expensive, however I know this is just how everything at Mayakoba general is and is not unique to this hotel. The other issue I had is that for the price, the rooms should be updated every couple of years or so. While we absolutely loved our room, it appeared that it had been at least 10 years since it was refreshed.

Absolutely loved out stay at Banyan Tree. We were upgraded and the Room was spacious and absolutely gorgeous with plunge pool and sea views. All the restaurants we tried were of good quality, staff are helpful, the gym is well equipped and we enjoyed the Mayan dinner experience. The hotel grounds are very spacious with lots of local wildlife and beautiful planting. Would absolutely return. Of the 2 resorts we stayed in Tulum (also stayed at Conrad) this was the better of the 2 and had the better beach. Would definitely return and recommend.

Private courtyard/pool rooms, and well being spa rooms, are just lovely, completely private and wonderful little oases of calm. They’re honestly the reason we’ve returned here more than once. Furnishing standards are high, and overall the hotel is very good. Where they let themselves down, not infrequently, is with the service. Not that it’s bad, but at this start level and price point, there’s an expectation of excellence, and too often we found ourselves having to ask for things that should already have been provided, or an expected service was too late or too early. After several of these it can become a little tiresome to have to keep raising these issues, especially when the service at the Rosewood next door is by comparison exemplary. The Banyan Tree is still great, but it could be better.
