Cà Bonfadini Historic Experience

This is a grandiose hotel, with a beautiful and over the top design, which matches the style of Venice. The front staff is delightful, very helpful and formal, and they really provide a premium customer experience. However to be a 5 star hotel, there are several things that could be improved. 1. Lighting: this may seem like a silly comment, but considering the effort that was put into the decor of the hotel, the lighting was off. It's very very bright. I imagine they did this to show off the beauty of the amazing Venetian glass chandeliers they have, but the result is a harsh light everywhere, making it not cozy or relaxing at all. 2. Room organization: the room we had was big, but not well organized. To go to the toilet you have to walk in front of a coffee station / mini bar. The mini bar has a light sensor that turns the lights on. So if you go to the toilet in the middle of the night, and you are not alone, you can rest reassured that you would wake up everyone. 3. Turndown service: honestly I don't care about turndown service, but if you do it, you should do it well. All they did was to come into the room and press the remote that controls the blinds. Upon arrival we were greeted with some snacks and a bottle of prosecco, but whoever did the turndown service didn't bother to take away the dirty glasses or food leftovers, nor did they clear the coffee station from a dirty cup. Again, I sound like a spoiled customer, and that's not what I am. But if you market yourself as a 5 star luxury hotel, you should try to get these details right. 4. Heating. Maybe this is our fault, but the room was crazy hot. The thermostat was set at 26C (78.8F) which is crazy. We could not figure out how to reduce it below 24C. As a result we slept with the window fully open in the middle of winter. It was fine, because the area is quiet, but still. Overall, this is a nice hotel, but management could do a better job.

A beautiful hotel right near the Jewish ghetto. Extremely accommodating for shabbas and very helpful staff. Stephen went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The rooms are luxurious with true venetian flair.
