In short: Familial atmosphere in beautiful surroundings in a quiet and peaceful part of the city. In a bit more detail: Comfy beds with a hard mattress. Beautiful, stylish furnishings. Very friendly and helpful staff. Limited selection for breakfast, but everything is fresh, good quality and delicious. The entire atmosphere was very cozy and familial - not like in a generic, big hotel, but more like in a family home. The darker side: Mosquitos. Not the hotel's fault, of course, but be prepared, watch out for them.

Stayed here in the last week of July 2023. Location: The hotel is situated very close to the S.Samuele water taxi stop. However for most of our commute, we had to walk to S.Angelo stop which is about 5 minutes walk. Overall, good location. Room: The room was very good- exactly as shown in the website. The bathroom was very clean. Ironing board was not in the room but was promptly provided at our request. The only reason I have taken away a star from rating is that on the first night of our stay, the AC had an issue and we were really hot. However the issue was fixed when the staff returned in the morning. Note that the AC temperature control is not in the room! If you need your room to be cooler, ask at the front desk before they leave for the night. Staff: Excellent staff. Very courteous. I especially liked the way LIA went out of her way to make us feel at home. Breakfast: Breakfast was good with sufficient choices for us vegetarians.

Amazing service and staff, but not fully happy with the room 8/10 Liked · The breakfast has been simply amazing. Coffee has been perfect, the variety of food has been limited, but all food quality has been splendid. The location has been very good. Close to all main attractions. I would rate t 9/10. It would be a ten if it has been a bit closer to Rialto bridge. The staff has been lovely. Reception lady helped us to find the hotel and the breakfast lady has been really lovely by preparing perfect cappuccino and providing a pleasant company. Disliked · The room has been big and goodish, but I did feel a bit disappointed by the quality. I have expected a bit more for this price. There have been no fancy sheets and pillows, there has been some unpleasant smell of chemicals on the arrival. Also, there have been flaws in decoration, small imperfections on the wall, a bit of web and obvious marks on the window. But the bathroom has been definitely cleaned splendidly and it has been spacious.

Ca’pagan is actually a very basic guest house with good photos on the website. It’s located close to a water-bus station and 20 minutes walk from San Marco square. It would be nice to have information about the exact way to reach the hotel cause it is very difficult to notice it amongst the similar buildings. There is no elevator and all rooms are on the second floor. The windows have view of the wall of the adjacent building and there is no balcony. The worst of all is that air conditioning electric panel was making loud clicking noise throughout the night and we couldn’t sleep. When we complained about it the receptionist said they were aware of this and couldn’t do anything. Frustrating experience while taking a shower hot water suddenly finished and I had to wait almost 20 min for it to appear again. The receptionist said it was cause someone else was taking shower at the same time… Breakfast was very basic, not even one hot item, even boiled eggs were cold and hard. There is a tiny courtyard with few tables. After 6pm there is nobody available at the reception so we had to remember the door code otherwise we would not be able to enter the hotel. Bed is quite comfortable with different types of pillows, a small sofa, big mirrors in the room. There is a minibar, but no electric kettle and no iron. I am surprised ca’pagan have a “fabulous” rating on the booking website. Except the beautiful furniture I can’t think of anything great there. Unreasonably expensive.
