I recently had the privilege of staying at the Carlton Hotel in St. Moritz, and it was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we arrived until our departure, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was not just comfortable, but truly memorable. The level of service here is unparalleled; everyone we encountered was incredibly helpful and friendly, embodying the essence of hospitality. A special shoutout to the concierge team, who were exceptionally welcoming and went out of their way to assist us, making us feel at home from the get-go. Their recommendations and attentiveness added a personalized touch to our experience that was much appreciated. The spa at the Carlton is a highlight in itself. Brilliant facilities and treatments offered a much-needed retreat after days spent exploring the beauty of St. Moritz. It was the perfect way to unwind and rejuvenate. I am already looking forward to our next visit to the Carlton Hotel. If you’re seeking a place where every detail is taken care of, and where the staff genuinely cares about making your experience special, look no further. We visited the Ritz Carlton in St. Moritz for the first time and were very impressed with the superb service. We arrived without a reservation and checked the terrace for a possible table during lunch. All was taken and reserved, so we dined inside (suberb decor and of course great food and service). We appreciated that the service did not forget our initial interest for a seat on the terrace and they arranged one for us when a table became available, even though we had not requested it. This, as an example of fine attunement to customer service is rarely found in hospitality. Thank you for such a positive first impression.

We did a lot of research and spent 2 weeks in the alps. I wanted to splurge and stay in one of the 5-star hotels so I chose Carlton. I was disappointed in the end and felt like I chose wrong. The level of service and experience just is not uniformly a 5-star experience. There were quite a few miscommunication with us, I felt the staff on average struggled with English which I don’t think is reasonable when paying this much. The room and location are amazing (we went with a junior suite) but the amount of nickel and diming is unacceptable with such a high price tag. Examples: they told us they don’t have irons in the room for security reasons but not to worry someone would take care of it. Someone promptly picked up a couple items for a very easy and quick iron (barely wrinkled) and I get a bill for $100 at checkout. They told us the minibar in the room is all included and there were signs saying to call for different items. I called and asked if there was champagne available. The lady said “mini bar champagne? Yes”. Again at checkout another $100 bill. At dinner in their impressive grand restaurant, the waiter was amazing but got our order wrong despite clarifications. That results with another extra $100 tacked on. We also asked them to take delivery of a piece of important medical equipment which we very clearly arranged and triple checked with them. The next day the DHL notification comes through that delivery wasn’t possible because the hotel told them we weren’t there. Again, this was arranged explicitly in person and we were reassured. I had to drive 150km north to get the item that same day! You can see the pattern, it felt like upcharging and misleading and not what I expect when I’m paying $2,000 a night up front. One lesson I learned is I didn’t realize the Carlton is a season hotel, they are closed for 8-9 months a year so their staff is highly temporary. I think that lead to a quality drop because nobody there really knew well what was going on. Next time I’ll try one of the other hotels.

A visit to the Sun terrace restaurant in the Carlton Hotel did not impress me. The location is great, the view is fantastic. The food is ok. The service is disaster! I have to say that the occupancy was less than 50%. First of all, we waited a long time for someone to come pick up the order, after we finished our food, it took more than half an hour for them to come clear the table. We waited about 45 minutes for the tiramisu we ordered... Yes, and let me not forget to mention the confusion when they initially claimed that we did not have a reserved table, although of course we did...

Despite the wonderful location and fantastic view, my experience here was far from satisfactory. The restaurant staff were friendly, but the food and service fell short of 5-star standards. It's evident that the staff could do better, but it's no surprise given the unfriendly and unhelpful demeanor of the hotel manager and the front desk. A good manager sets the tone for the entire establishment, and in this case, it was a very negative one. Adding to the frustration, the hotel seemed to neglect crucial aspects like parking and ice services, leading to concerns about safety as cars slipped into each other. The manager's harsh and unfriendly attitude only exacerbated the issues. This lack of attention to detail and customer service left me with a less than pleasant impression of my visit. Among others my car suffered from the negligence of the staff. Instead of apologizing or offering additional compensation for the time wasted and frustration incurred during my visit, I was offered harsh answers to my question and only the necessary compensation through insurance. This lack of accountability and customer care left me with a less than pleasant impress of my visit.
