Quiet and beautiful area. The morning market is not very loud in the morning. They have a high exchange rate (23000 kip for 1$), but in the end paid the normal price

I had a terrible first night in Luang Prabang at the nearby Manichan Guesthouse (don't ever go there, the foreigner owner is atrociously self-absorbed, rude, and unprofessional!). Then I found this place, Golden Lotus, and it was such a big difference from my previous experience. The staff was so nice and helpful, they really made my stay enjoyable and were always ready to give a smile and hello. The breakfast I had was a generous portion of fruits with pancake, more than I had expected for a free breakfast. :) The room was a little bit small, I had not much room for my opened luggage. But it's not a big deal as I found ways to accommodate creatively. The bathroom is a good size. Shower strength and hot water were good. Just one thing, maybe it's useful to put a sign in the bathroom not to flush toilet paper down the toilet bowl as I did that and it clogged up. 🙈 The staff was able to sort it out eventually, always with a smile. The WiFi speed in the upper floor rooms were better than in the ground floor rooms as they are closer to the router. Something to note if you need to get work done. The WiFi at the communal area downstairs is good though. I ended up staying for 6 nights here. And I'm so grateful to have found this place after my bad experience with Manichan Guesthouse. Thank you to all the staff for working so hard to make your guests feel welcome and comfortable. 🙏
