I can see where the terrible reviews are coming from but you are staying in a place, an old Palazzo, for a fraction of the cost of the posh ones. They cost thousands a night. So yes the shower cubicle is small and grotty and the water doesn’t heat up fast (or at all). Yes, you flush the toilet and it gurgles water up the plug hole in the bathroom sink two feet away. Yes there’s a handwritten sign on the wardrobe saying ‘BROKEN DOOR PLEASE DO NOT OPEN’. And the coffee machine water canister is disgusting and hasn’t been cleaned forever. BUT BUT You are on the Grand Canal. There is a lovely campo outside. The Veneto stop is right there and even a gondola stop. You’re in the Rialto area. You’re a short walk from Piazza san Marco. And the city, the island, is so stunning you don't want to go to bed you want to walk walk walk through the night, you can't turn away from the beauty. So go and stay in a Best Western if you want clean and sterile. if you want pristine. Here the furnishings are rich and a bit shabby. But it's a part of history and it's pretty great to be able to throw open the windows and hear the boats go past, and smell the briny wash of the water. You're in Venice. One of the best cities in the world. (I’ll say also our room didn’t have visible mould but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t there. Also, I really think a place like this, at this cost, should provide a couple of wine glasses if guests would like a glass of wine in their room. It’s an odd set up and could be made much nicer, eg the common room is not well equipped.) For people complaining about check in problems, read the comprehensive directions the property sends ahead of time. It’s not a hotel, don’t expect a hotel service.

No service at all in hotel. Room was dirty, bathroom was filthy and so we're air conditioners. Might be better if they had staff on sight to control the cleanliness situation. Mold in bathroom and air conditioner and smelly. Painted walls with blood from killed mosquitos.

2 floor suite. Downstairs was bathroom. It was hard to navigate small steps. Felt uneasy on steps. Great view in shared living room of Grand Canal

We stayed at Granda Sweet Suites apartment for 1 night. The aparthotel has a great location, it's close to all Venice's main attractions and close to the vaporetto stop. The view from the lobby is amazing. The hotel doesn't offer breakfast but offers free coffee and tea (coffee machine is available in the room and in the lobby). The reception was open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday and the lady was very nice and helpful. Good value for money

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5 stars) Review of Granda Sweet Suites: A Disastrous Experience Let's delve into the abysmal reality of my recent stay at Granda Sweet Suites. To say that this place was terrible would be an understatement. I was greeted with a shocking absence of any staff members on site. It seemed as though the concept of customer service had evaporated into thin air, leaving guests stranded and bewildered. Now, let's talk about the olfactory assault that awaited me upon entering the premises. The smell permeating the air was an unpleasant concoction reminiscent of old pantyhose mixed with the scent of neglected cardboard boxes. Frankly, it was an assault on the senses that I will not soon forget. But that wasn't the end of my unfortunate encounter with Granda Sweet Suites. Imagine my dismay when I discovered the presence of black mold in the bathrooms. The blatant disregard for proper hygiene and cleanliness is simply unacceptable. One expects a basic standard of cleanliness when paying for accommodation, but apparently, that was too much to ask for in this establishment. Adding insult to injury, the air conditioning system was utterly non-functional. Despite the sweltering heat outside, the room remained an uncomfortable, stuffy sauna. The oppressive humidity exacerbated the overall musty and stinky atmosphere, making my stay an exercise in endurance rather than relaxation. In all honesty, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place to anyone. It would be more prudent to find shelter in the bus station outside than to subject oneself to the abhorrent conditions within these walls. My experience at Granda Sweet Suites serves as a cautionary tale for those seeking accommodation. I implore you to explore other options diligently and consider this place only as an absolute last resort. To summarize, Granda Sweet Suites fails spectacularly on multiple fronts. The absence of staff, the nauseating odor, the presence of black mold, and the malfunctioning air conditioning are just a few examples of the abysmal conditions I encountered. This establishment should serve as a case study in how not to run a hotel. Please, heed my warning and steer clear of this wretched place.
