Great location at the very center of Madrid. The room was a bit small but relatively clean. OK price.

Bad, bad, bad Despite advising them of our flight cancellation and them confirming that they are keeping the reservation for us, as it is non changeable and non-refundable, when we arrived at 17:00 the following day, we were advised that we classified as a no-show at 12:00 that day and they had given the accommodation away. Surely, if you inform the accommodation of a delay, there should be an extension of the no-show time period? It is not that flight cancellations are uncommon. However, one learns the hard way, in retrospect, reading the reviews on El Pilar, the picture forms itself. This is a common occurrance at this Hostal. Therefore, dear fellow travellers, do yourselfa favour and take note. It is in your hands whether we will be the last it happened to you or whether you might be the last.

Centrally located, but tiny. You have the bare essentials, but being so close to everything, you'll probably spend more time out and about than in the actual room.

Amazing location, I can't wait to go back to Madrid! I will definitely book here again. This little hostal is right in the heart of Madrid near everything you need restaurants, train stations, shoppings. Price is also very affordable and great service since my flight arrived early they allowed me to drop off my luggage before my check in time as well as leave my luggage store there after check out.
