Simple, comfortable place. Warm. Great bathroom. Paper coaster under drinking glass. Nice point on bathroom tissue. The walls are quite thin, which was a problem one night. Might be a good idea to bring good earplugs.

What i liked: Good central location; short walk to Migros, shopping streets and Zermatt train station. Modern and comfortable shower. Sparkling water was provided in the room which was a nice touch. What i disliked: Lights in the room were a little dim. Toilet light was not working! (I made sure to shower before dark) There was a brief power outage on my first evening there. [Period of stay: late July 2023] The hotel location was tucked away from main street and was tricky to locate. Check-in was actually at an adjacent hotel (which was closer to the main street) - this could be better communicated beforehand. The balcony attached to my room is actually a COMMON CORRIDOR, ie my neighbours could actually walk right past outside the room, and vice versa. Nonetheless, great value overall.

Little in way of sound deadening in walls and stairway echos tremendously. Could be the rowdy crowd as much as hotel. No courtesy anymore it seems. Suggest sister hotel Tannenhof next door in any case

It's two separate hotels and buildings run by one company.. Alpina is the old dilapidated one of the two. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel has a service elevator mainly for luggage. Lots of stairs. Tiny rooms with many issues. Seems like this building is not cared for since they built their new hotel next door. Don't waste your time in Zermatt. There's plenty of other places in the Alps that are way better to visit.
