Worst hotel ever possible, dont come here, dont waste your money and time! They charged us 30 usd more because we paid with card and didn’t have enough mexican pesos. When you try to pay cash in USD they give you are a ratio of 15 mexican pesos for 1 USD whereas most exchanges do it for 16.6 and the central rate is 17. They were trying to make money based on exchange rates even though they are just hotel. So we paid card with 30$ extra because of “commission” as it was cheaper then paying in USD cash because with the rate they were giving us we needed to pay like 60$ extra than the price in booking which is crazy. For our 4 day stay we didint meet a single person working there who speaks English. So discussing the above mentioned situation took us an hour with Google translate with the “receptionist”. Breakfast is beyooooooond terrible. They charged extra for breakfast for the following things: terrible cheap coffee, bow of (2 types) cereal and toast. That’s it. Everything else was extra. The kitchen was disgusting as you can see some of the dye on the walls were falling and it was so dirty. Some of the days we didint even have a housekeeper clean our room and you have to go to ask for a new towels yourself. We rent a room with jacuzzi which was so dirty when we arrived it was disgusting. They lock the parking after 11 pm and close the door and you have to go through the whole hotel to find someone to open the parking lot for you. None of these things were mentioned in advance: get mexican pesos so we get overcharged, tell us about the parking, nothing.

I liked the most the staff, who was super kind and friendly. They have a 24h reception which is very good to have. Also, they try to help in any ways. Everybody makes you feel very loved. In particular, the people working in the kitchen. They were great! I did not like that the bathroom was not separate. There was no privacy. There was only a small door but the toilet is in the room. The windows were not isolated, therew as always a small spot left open because it dis not work. The jacuzzi was not working properly and the bed was not 100% clean. Some facilities were missing like a small trash basket in the room or the wc brush.

The hotel is ok, not great. Our room had no windows and it stank of mold, we had to change rooms. It botheres me that they ask you to keep using your towels for 4 days " for the benefit of the environment and the animals" when it's obvious they just want to save money n don't care for nature too much: At the bar area near the pool they have a turtle that is being kept in a 30x30 cm container filled with water, the turtle is trapped there in the corner and can't move all day and night. @hotel blue star, if you read this please set this turtle free or at least give it a proper space to walk around, this is inhumane.

The spa bath did not look like the photos, but in many ways, it was so much better! The jets come on automatically as it fills up and if you're not in it, it does jet all over the balcony and there seems to be no stopping it 🤣 it was so lovely, though! There was hot water and the bed was super comfy and the aircon powerful and effective! The wifi was decent and the pool area was lovely. Theres also a rooftop area woth astro turf which was divine to go look around and do some yoga. Location wise it was super quiet at night which was perfect but it is about a 30 minute walk from the ADO bus station, and about an hours walk from the puerto juares ultramar terminal. It was the perfect place to stay a bit more luxuriously (we're budget backpackers) after our long flight before heading to isla mujeres.
