Stellar service with incredible kindness and grace. With a missed connection coming home from my mother-in-law's funeral we found this hotel, great location, rooms, historic art deco experience. Then we met the front desk staff (Lily, Kai, Harold) and it went from great to truly outstanding. I mentioned to Lily, about the circumstances and asked if she might be able to get us a room, in the same class just with a good view or newer update. She sincerely expressed condolences in a way that made me feel so seen. She asked us to hold on, as we were early in and that she would work on something my heart was warmed over. We were getting ready to change so we could store our luggage and go out when she motion me back. She asked if a bottle of champagne would be inappropriate and I responded it would be wonderful as we're trying to celebrate my mother-in-law's life. And in a few more minutes she called me back and she gave me the bottle of champagne, gave us early check-in and did a few other special things which brought me to tears. I wasn't expecting anything like that, and they didn't need to do any of that, the hotel is lovely and such a fun place to be, but that, that meant so much to us. In 1000 years I couldn't write out exactly how much it meant, but in this brief moment I can only say that when people show kindness when my heart is broken it helps heal it in ways time does not. Thank you so much for your kindness you have no idea how much it meant to me, to us. We will never forget you we will recommend this fabulous hotel to everybody we know. God bless you. Of course the location of this hotel is spectacular, but the property is incredible. The building is well maintained, my room was excellent. Super clean. Exceptional tile, shower, fixtures, everything. I mean spotless. Our view of the strip was great, the pool is very fun. Beach towels, bikes, water, breakfast, all generously included. What really made this my new absolute "must-go-to" for visiting South Beach was the staff. Everyone was super focused on making our stay the best. At the very top of that list is Lily. Every time we walked by she greeted us like a friend and made sure that any question we had, any need, was taken care of in such a wonderful manner. I travel quite a bit and having someone with her attitude and competence at a front desk is very rare. Thank Breakwater, and thank you Lily!! We'll be back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! PS, the artwork is on point!

Booked a day pass for $240. Location is great; a walk away from the beach, food, clubs and shopping. Front desk was helpful initially. Issues came about when we were placed in a dirty, mildew-y room. The bedding was wet and very dirty with stains. The toilet did not flush. When these concerns were brought up, a refund or discount were not options available to us. We were instead moved to another room, which while less mildew-y, the bedding was also damp and had small staining. The toilet did flush in this room. Additionally, we were moved to a room that was nearest the club that was playing loud music. Fortunately, we only needed a room to bridge the gap between our departure time and next room at the Hilton, but I do wish we were able to be comfortable to nap as we had planned after our long trip.

Booked hotel breakwater because of its good rating and mainly for the location, and location is the biggest thing for it. It’s in the centre of where you want to be on a short break on Miami Beach. And you can’t get closer to beach. And if you want a beach day the hotel offers free to use beach towels and chairs. I’d recommend buying an umbrella. They’re $20-30 from the local store. The pool area is a little tired looking. No one really ever uses it. We booked the superior Queen room, and it was BIG. Lots of space. Only thing was the sliding door to the bathroom didn’t stay closed, so no privacy when using the toilet. And the TV just went off on our last night and wouldn’t turn back on. Tried a few times to call reception but they just were not picking up. Which brings me to my next point, the staff just seemed very unenthusiastic, as though you was asking too much of them. Maybe because it was thanksgiving, but this is hospitality. There’s no real excuse for poor service. Also. Breakfast is the exact same every day. And due to the air con blasting over the buffet, it is all cold. Would I stay again….Possibly. I can’t say I wouldn’t look elsewhere though. A few improvements and this hotel could be brilliant!
