If you have been sightseeing the whole day, the last thing you want to do is to travel a LONG distance back to your hotel. I wanted a hotel that was further away from the indecent bars & clubs, so I chose this hotel. What I did not factor into my decision before booking was that I had to walk a 10-minute journey with a sore back and aching legs, ON TOP of carrying my shopping bags. Please consider what I wrote above before booking your hotel. I liked that my room was spacious because I intentionally booked a wider room. However, an incident happened that made me displeased with the service of the staff. One day, after staying for about a week, I came back and discovered they had prepared only two towels instead of three for the 3 of us. So I called the front desk and asked them to kindly bring me one more towel. Do you know what they said?! Since your child is staying for free, we have decided not to provide an extra towel for her.(!) This piece of information was provided in a very curt manner by a male staff. I was taken aback. I wanted to ask them about the sudden change in policy, but I was too exhausted from standing and walking the whole day, so I quickly down the phone and wondered aloud, "Gosh, so now my 9 year old daughter and I have to share a bath towel." I recall seeing a male staff at the front desk when I walked past the reception a few minutes ago and I wonder if the speaker was him or not because, I am sorry to say this but, he looked mean. That mean face and that mean voice matched together perfectly. It has to be him because there was no other male staff at the front desk. I wish they did not penny pinch guests in this way. It spoilt my overall impression of the hotel. I don't think I want to stay there again.

Rooms are bigger than usual normal hotel rooms closer Sapporo City and JR Lines. Service is considered good based on my experience, but if I would be very strict with hotel requirements, I would come hard on the cleaning housekeeping requirement, because I was being told by a slightly older male receptionist that housekeeping can only be done every 3 days once (to me it feels like I just paid for a service apartment hostel) perhaps maybe they have shortage of cleaning staff, busy schedule of cleaning routine or the price of the hotel cost can only cater for that. Location is considerably nice for us because we drive and we get the parking lot reserved prior to our stay. Overall, I would say the place is very quiet and peaceful, while you have a famous ramen which people queue for hours in the cold to dine and a lawson with simple necessities. If as compared to hotels nearer to the city, maybe you may have great service but there will be other issues like noisy environments, washing & drying machine always full and dirty, aircon not working and many more. So hope this helps everyone choosing a stay in Sapporo!

Clean spacious rooms compared to many other Japanese hotels. Nice breakfast with good selection of at least Japanese style breakfast. Better coffee than many other Japanese hotels. Was a pleasant surprise that the hotel was that good for the price paid.

Location was great with a local ramen favorite across the steet. It's about a 3min. walk to the street car stop. From there, it's 2 stops to Susukino. The staff was excellent, made our stay enjoyable and commuting around the city so easy. Though there isn't an onsen in the hotel, they partner with the hotel across the street. You pay ¥300 at the lobby of royal stay, and they give you a voucher and towels. Did the onsen every night while I was there, high quality and clean - with more on the open air rooftop.
