Our first evening walk in Venice we came across LA Calcina restaurant on the busy choppy canal. It was an experience I’m so happy we had. The staff was friendly and the food was good. I had the gnocchi and my husband had the lasagne. Yum! Go enjoy a lovely evening after watching the sun go down on the point. 🖤

The food was just acceptable, the views are beautiful but the staff is completely unfriendly. We came with our baby, we ordered some vegetables for him( it was a 7€ side dish). when they served the dish we saw that they were fried, we asked if we could change them for a not fried option. The answer was that we order that and we will have to pay for it and he left them. Despite that, they gave us the other vegetables. our suprise came when the bill arrived with the 2 side dishes charged. We didn’t want to argue but traveling with a baby is not easy and the restaurant could have had more empathy and change the dish, instead they charged the both of them. It’s a shame that for things like these you can’t enjoy a beautiful view like they have.

We booked for an evening meal following our wedding in Venice earlier that day. Us and our small wedding party throughly enjoy the food and wine on offer. We had a few sharing starters, Bruscetta, cheese platter and the salmon, all delicious. The mains are very large so make sure you come hungry. My husband had the fried seafood which was gargantuan and delicious, a friend had the squid ink pasta which she said was delicious. I enjoyed my lasagne. Desserts were a real highlight for all. Highly recommend the tiramissu. Get a table outside for the sunset, you won't regret it.
