Hotel Riu Tequila - All Inclusive

My recent stay at Hotel Riu Tequila was a mix of highs and lows, creating an overall impression that left me with conflicting feelings. Upon arrival, the complimentary welcome drink set a positive tone, and the check-in and check-out processes were surprisingly swift and hassle-free. However, the front desk receptionist's lackluster assistance when inquiring about activities and amenities due to the language barrier. The true gems of our stay were the dedicated staff at the bars and restaurants, consistently delivering exceptional customer service with a smile. Their efficiency, especially during peak hours, and the quality of the drinks were standouts, 10/10. There’s two bars—one near the lobby, another at the 24/7 sports bar—along with an open swim-up bar. The variety of pools within walking distance was a plus, but the rooms left something to be desired. While generally decent, signs of wear and tear were evident. The mirrors were scratched, and the thin walls proved to be a significant drawback, allowing disturbances from neighboring rooms. Also, no room service which was disappointing. The dining experiences varied. Bamboo's service was commendable, but the food received a modest 4/10 rating. The sushi can barely constitute to what a “sushi” is. Slices of “salmon” were thinly sliced, and the rolls were majority vegetables with tons of rice. The steakhouse was disappointing, with a 3/10 rating due to watered-down and chewy steak, burger was good. The wait-time is unreasonable and not worth it for the food. The Italian restaurant fared better with a 6/10 (nothing too special), and the main buffet, earning an 8/10, was a reliable choice with a diverse selection, notably the impressive taco station. Majority of the food lacked seasoning besides the main buffet. Access to the beach, a 10-minute walk or a free shuttle ride away (operates at certain times every 15 minutes), was a positive feature, although the limited shade from umbrellas posed a challenge. The nearby town provided a change of scenery, but the resort's amenities, particularly the massage services, were deemed overpriced (cheaper massages near the towns). Hotel Riu Tequila offers some positives, including a diverse main buffet, excellent customer service, and a convenient 24/7 snack bar. However, the drawbacks such as inconsistent food quality, aging rooms, overpriced amenities, and thin walls may impact the overall satisfaction of your stay. Considering the price point, it might be worth exploring other resorts for a potentially more refined and enjoyable experience.

There is not enough to say about how wonderful this resort was to stay at. From the time we checked in until the time we checked out, we had a great time. The service was very friendly. Everyone was so polite, helpful and happy. We enjoyed interacting with the employees as they helped make the location fun. The rooms were very clean. Every day they would be swept and mopped with the beds being moved to ensure every part was cleaned. We always came back to a friendly towel animal as well as a clean, organized room. The amenities are amazing as well. Everything included is always a plus but Riu Tequila seemed to go above and beyond. We enjoyed everything about this resort and trip. We plan to visit a Riu resort again in the near future.
