The staff are kind and a good bunch of folks just trying to earn a honest wage. If you want to eat real ottoman cuisine I suggest using the asitane restaurant on the ground floor of the hotel. Literally food fit for a king, an Ottoman king. I tried the chicken with beetroot dating back from the 1700s! If you overlook the sub standard quality of the bathrooms in the hotel everything else is nice and homely . It is in a quiet section of fatih with access to shops, mosques, churches and the main roads to get to the tourist areas all within taxi and walking diatance. A taxi from taksim to this place shouldnt really cost more than 50 liras, make sure you ask the drivers to restart the taxi meter.
