Location is good. Room is okay but not great. Better rooms are available for the same price in Kyoto. Service is surprisingly bad and super impersonal. They try to make extra money by purposely letting people run into ”traps“ e.g. early check-in, luggage storage etc They know that tourists will face those situations and they exploit it as much as possible. Complete turnaround relative to the other reviews. We got gigantic rooms in a very desirable location by Sanjo Keihan station - about 200 meters away— for less than 6000 yen a night when places were multiples. They gave me early check in no problem as the room was ready by like noon.

Arrived on the day to find out 4pm checkin and won't store bags during the day. Then she said you can pay more for early check in, or telling you to then take your bags to the train station to store in a locker at 1000yen. This is completely unacceptable and not explained anywhere I saw on booking. Would've cancelled this booking if I could have and gone elsewhere. I could've left my bags at the previous hotel if I had of known and not dragged bags all over kyoto, but just would not book here if I'd had the heads up.
