Loly Boutique Hotel

Quick summary: this is a decent hotel, but not at all worth the cost. The service is terrible and at times quite rude and unwilling to help (see below for details about our experience, which was very frustrating and uncomfortable). The lobby and hallways smell like smoke, and even some of the non-smoking rooms smell like smoke. The "superior" rooms are materially more expensive than the "classic" rooms, but it's very unclear what you will get for that additional cost. Overall, do NOT expect to get what you are booking. You're rolling the dice with this place (across all categories). Detailed review: we had the option to book a "classic" room for $400 / night or a "superior" room for $600 / night. After finding no clear explanation on the website about the differences, we called the hotel, and the concierge guaranteed that the "superior" rooms have outdoor spaces / balcony (plus better amenities, whatever that means). We opted for the "superior" non-smoking room because we liked the idea of having an outdoor space. When we arrived, we were taken to a ground floor hotel room that had two metal chairs and a small table outside of a sliding glass door (I guess that was our "private" outdoor space, even though anyone could walk there and use our space), and were immediately hit with an intense smell of old cigarette smoke inside the room. After asking the front desk to move us to a different room, we were told there are no more rooms available. However, we checked the website and found out that they were LYING and there were in fact rooms available, and when we confronted the concierge person, she complained that she would have to call her director (as if we were inconveniencing her by asking to move us to a room that didn't reek of smoke). She finally agreed to call her director and confirmed the transfer, at which point we were taken to a room that was smoke-free but did not have a balcony, only to be told that not all "superior" rooms have balconies... and we were not going to receive a refund for the incremental cost for the "superior" room, even though we were told by the hotel that our "superior" room would have an outdoor space. Our room also had other issues (flickering lights, faucet handle falling off the wall). With that said, the location is very good and it is generally a clean hotel. But we HIGHLY suggest choosing a different hotel. The experience was just very unfortunate for a place like that.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic. It is a brand new hotel and it shows they made good choices for what people want. Breakfast was good. Nice variety and endless coffee and drinks. The service team were absolutely wonderful. The nicest and most helpful we have ever seen. Enzo made our stay fantastic and we always looked forward to breakfast to see him and chat with him. In fact, knowing that our daughter is alone in Rome while going to university, he told us that she can contact him at the hotel if she ever needed anything for an emergency. Rooms were nice (a bit small) but the patio made up for it. Great seating area and they had a nice kettle and tea/coffee set up with yummy cookies and lots of tea selections. The bar/lounge area is very nice and nicely decorated. The location is perfect for walking and finding the best food. Lots around it and we felt very safe. Grocery stores, restaurants, gelato and open air markets are all under a 5 minute walk. We walked to the Colosseum in 30 minutes. Rooms were small if you had over 2 people, but this is very common in Italy so we were prepared. Closet and drawer space was minimal, so it was hard to properly unpack if you stayed for more than a few days
