Location is great, right by the magnificent mile. Lots to do within walking distance. A couple gripes though. The elevators are kinda sketchy. Out of the three elevators there was only one that felt trustworthy. I talked to a group of guys on an elevator ride and they said that they went on one elevator that stopped at every floor and they had to pry the door open to get out. This issue was fixed by the next day, but it still sketched me out. Also, I left a do not disturb sign on my door, yet I came back from lunch to find a maid in my room. I was not happy about this. Nothing of mine was missing, so I’m glad for that, but it’s still irritating to pretty much specifically request privacy and still not get it. Hotel seems fancier than it is, but it was reasonably priced so I won’t complain about that. I’ve stayed in worse hotels that were more expensive.

I would rate this zero stars if I could it's a terrible hotel full of black mold, bad service, bed bugs and is HAUNTED!! Location: You can't find the hotel accurately on Google maps, Apple Maps, etc it shows it on a completely different street so that should've been my first red flag that something was wrong...Don't give me started on the parking scams. Rooms: Initially things appeared to be fine. A few hrs into my stay I started to have allergies and my throat began swelling. After check in I checked the restroom and the lining above the door was a full of black mold!!! I went to go get a room change and when I showed them the black mold pictures all they had to say was "you must be on the top floor". They told me they couldn't provide a new room because it was too late at night and they were booked. I left to see if I could find another hotel, but it was already midnight so I came back a few hours later, pleaded with the front desk & they gave me another room. Unfortunately due to the mold infestation I had to buy new clothing, toothbrush, etc. because all my things got covered in mold spores. Service: The front desk receptionist and hospitality manager did not care nor offer any type of compensation for the mold. The hospitality manger made it a point to let me know that there is no contract claiming that the rooms are to be clean When i asked about how it was documented in there system (ex: hospitality employee) It was incorrectly documented that the fan was the source of the mold. The whole team was apathetic to my allergic reaction. Do not go here! They do not care if you get sick you're just another $$$ to them!!! Update: The hospitality manager stated that another manger would be contacting me via the number they had on file on 1/22 of course this never happened. Its been over a week since my stay and I am still feeling the adverse effects of being exposed to black mold. Since I have not heard from any of the Knickerbocker's management, and its basically impossible to reach them by traditional means, I have contacted my financial institution and they have opened an investigation about the situation.

Old style hotel with a character. Clean. Nice atmosphere. Lake is literally 1&1/2 block away. 🚖 available almost all the time and you can easily request a receipt if needed. Nice personnel. 10 min walk to Whole foods. Some rooms have a great view, mine did. Breakfast downstairs is not complimentary, but is delicious. Nice bar.

Stayed an evening to enjoy activities on the magnificent mile for which it’s a great location. Charming hotel. Windows are drafty. It’s historical. The water was hot. The bed was comfortable. The heating worked well. The hotel was quiet with a nice ambiance in the lobby. Check in and out was easy. Very nice and helpful staff. Doormen, especially. Appreciated the stay.
