we got a complimentary upgrade to the huge king room overlooking the water, and loved that the rooms included binoculars to watch the sea otters, sea lions, hawks, seagulls, tide pool critters, and swimming birds. the breakfast is tasty but on the small side as you only get to choose one (high quality) thing for free. great room and very clean!

We absolutely loved staying here on our recent trip to Monterey. I had originally booked a Cannery Row street room but was offered a ocean corner room with a balcony for a very reasonable upgrade price. We absolutely loved the room (220) and would highly recommend it as the view was spectacular! You could see the entire bay, the beach, and the pier as well as all kind of wildlife right from inside the room or on the balcony. That room was great as well as the balcony above provided cover when it rained and we were able to continue enjoying the view. We were provided with complimentary wine, for our anniversary, which was a nice touch. I would highly recommend this place if you are thinking of going to Monterey.

Great hotel! We stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were very nice and clean. Loved the balcony and the view of the bay. Great location, restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The staff was great! We will definitely stay there again.

No A/C in room! This may not be a deal breaker for some, but it was for us. The room’s ambient temp was mid to upper 70s with no natural air flow. There is a large modern fan provided and outdoor temp was 68 degrees, so given time, the room would have most likely cooled down with the balcony door left open. The balcony door is screened. The staff was very nice and the room was clean. The view is amazing and you will experience coastal nature. The seagulls are loud, but since we did not stay, I’m not certain if the noise level drops over night. We checked out within 30 min of check in. I will update on how fair the hotel is on our refund.
