The reviews are spot on. From the moment we walked through the door until the morning we departed (2 nights) Gattini was everything we had hoped for and more. The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of the old town and the facilities are second to none. The balcony bar is a must do for an afternoon drink. Wanted to make special thanks to all the staff as well. Lucia on the front desk was delightful to deal with and incredibly helpful, as were the bar staff and all involved in the delicious breakfast. This hotel is a must stay when in Matera

we didn't stay in the hotel but went to the rooftop bar for drinks. Very reasonable priced and great location. Real 5 star service, the staffs are well trained and super nice. This level of service you only get in the best luxury hotels. I would definitely stay there next time (when it's not crazy peak season price 🤭)

We were on a mini tour of the Puglia area staying at 3 different hotels and this was the one that stood out for all the right reasons! Comfortable, luxurious and great location, the heart of Matera, close to the hike trails and the ancient caves. The hotel was originally the residence of on of the most important families in Matera and has been impeccably renovated with all the modernity expected from a 5-star hotel whilst preserving the original history of the place. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable - Ours had a private balcony with a view onto the square. We didn’t get around to using the Spa, but the room comes with one hour access to the Spa where you can enjoy the privacy of the swimming pool and hammam. Breakfast was great, we didn’t eat dinner there, but had drinks and watched the sun go down from the roof terrace restaurant and got free nibbles with our drinks from the lovely waiter. In fact, all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. If pushed for an improvement opportunity, I would say they could have added a couple of chairs on the outside balcony, but I am genuinely splitting hairs as there are chairs just inside that you can sit on. I really have nothing bad to say abut this hotel - it is a comfortable, relaxing sanctuary and I highly recommend.
