Pingdoi is a nice place to stay, but is a 3-star hotel, not 5 stars as indicated on Google. The decor is really interesting, but the location and service could be better. We stayed in two different rooms, both of which had strong citronella insect repellant scent sprayed throughout the room—it never went away despite running the air and fans 24/7. The front desk is often unattended, even during normal hours (9:30 for checkout), and the gate and lobby is locked outside of 9:00–17:00. They offer a pool, but no other amenities. The location is inside the old city wall, but is on the outskirts with no sidewalk. You have to walk behind telephone poles along a busy street to get to the rest of the city. The staff are friendly and arranged laundry and a scooter rental. Know that you have to pay in cash, and write down the WhatsApp number in case you want to come back after dark and the front gate is closed. If you don’t see anyone in the lobby, you can go into the adjoining restaurant and have them call someone to come attend the front desk.

The hotel was absolutely lovely - the decor was nice, everything was clean and the staff were so helpful and welcoming. The location was ideal, a walking distance to the old town with markets, entertainment and plenty of food. The hotel is on the list for the trips/activities you can book through TripAdvisor/Viator, and you'll be collected/dropped off. I would certainly reccomend anyone to stay here when they visit Chiang Mai.

Wonderfull hotel. There are two beautiful buildings of renaissance architecture. Big rooms and bathrooms. Very clean. The pool corner is very nice and quiet. There is a restaurant inside the hotel that offers room service and serves international and Thai food.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They helped us book a ride to the airport, and answered any questions we had about the room. The hotel itself is large, elaborately decorated, and just too beautiful. And the rooms had lots of space and were very comfortable. The location is already convenient for those who want to be right in the Old CityWe would definitely recommend this place, and would certainly stay here again!
