Sonesta Columbus Downtown

This was my first time staying at a Sonesta hotel and everything was great. The staff was super friendly, room was spacious and clean and the only thing I found odd was that housekeeping didn’t come at all hence the 4 instead of 5 stars for service. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend the hotel. Also, while the drinks at the bar may be a bit pricey, ‘Sweater Weather’ was by far my favorite and one that was definitely worth it!

I stayed here for 3 nights for a conference. The experience started out great, but changed once the bill was finalized. I actually would not have taken the time out of my day to write this review had the Manager taken accountability for this as an honest mistake. Instead, she made me out to be someone who makes up a scenario for a freebie of some sort. 1. I paid for the entire reservation in advance on my card prior to arrival. (One I did not bring on my trip). Upon arrival I was told by Andrea, a manager at this location, that she needed to put a security hold for possible damages that would be removed once I checked out, and my original payment card would be charged as this was only a temporary hold. I confirmed this twice with Andrea before giving them the card I had on me, since she wouldn't use the one I booked the reservation with. I felt that this was reasonable enough so I did not dispute it. This was indeed not the case, as they fully charged the different card that was only supposed to be for their “security deposit”. This is an issue for me as it was a business trip, and I paid with a personal credit card. 2. I was told by Andrea, that my reservation would come with a $10 food credit/guest per day on my reservation (I had 2). I asked to clarify if it could be used at their convenience store market, and was told it would only apply to the Vine + Forge restaurant in the lobby. This was also not the case, as it was not reflected in my final bill. 3. I called to try and figure out why the credit was not applied, and I actually got Andrea, the Manager. When I explained my situation, she told me in short that "She never told me those things and would never have said any of that." I tried to explain how that didn't make sense because I would have never known about this credit if I wasn't told about it by her. She then went on to say that I "Must have overheard other guests talking about it, so that's why I was under that impression" I rarely take time out of my day to leave a bad review, but this experience completely rubbed me the way by the compete lack of accountability. If you deal with this location, be sure to not believe that they are just using your card for just a "security deposit"
