This hotel is gross. I have not stayed in something this nasty in a long time. The woman who checked me in was great, very nice and accommodating. The room was foul. A hodgepodge of weird RV quality cabinetry, filthy floors and walls. We did not take our shoes off. We were only there for a few hours, fortunately. This place is coasting off of its location and literally putting zero back into the property. If being beachside is your only requirement, I guess it would work. The location and service are the only reason I am not giving this less stars. The bedding seemed clean, thank goodness. I am only writing this (savage I admit, but deserved) review because the reviews on here do not reflect the actual conditions. I took a video but I will spare you. Avoid.

This place was incredible. The hotel is older but certainly clean and quite nice. We had a junior suite. Location, location, location. We Sat with our coffees in the morning watching the surfers and dolphins in the distance.

So the room was sold under false pretenses, and while the receptionist was engaging and professional, the exterior of the facade was nothing compared to the forlorn interior, where the carpet stains bled through with veracity. One night, I slept on the folding chair out by the beach because I didn't want any more bites on my legs. You're better off eating at one of the local breakfast spots located nearby. One of the maintenance folks really saved us by leaving a note with some of the specifics. We didn't see that coming! A couple homeless folks from the boardwalk tried to enter our room through the sliding door but they were kept at bay by the night watchman who didn't even work for the hotel. I would stay here again, but only for 3 nights, and only in the king suite with free breakfast and a coupon for a rental from down the street. Check an aggregate site. They have rooms for under $75.

I have vacationed here many times. Always have excellent staff. Rooms are clean with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean! Upon my last visit this October, I spotted a seagull dangling upside down from the roofline with a 6" fishing lure caught in its mouth. I quickly alerted staff member, Miguel who, with the help of another staff member, John raced to the roof access and after just a few minutes were able to remove the lure and send Mr, Seagull soaring! I wish I videoed it to share... its was windy and on the edge of the building four stories up. These two gentlemen were very brave, so a huge shoutout to these two guys who saved a bird's life! The Surfer is lucky to have them on staff!
