This review is for the spa. I booked a massage with a hot springs tub in the room. There was a lot of confusion during the booking process. I asked for 9 am in November and they booked it for 9 pm in December. Luckily I straightened it out by calling to confirm and got it scheduled for the right date. The tub is too small, doesn't even fit one person. It's probably three feet long. Before a massage, I want to fully submerge my body, and that was not possible here. The quality of the massage was very good, but there was some confusion when my spouse and I undressed as we are used to doing for massages. They wanted us to wear this disposable underwear, which was not clear. But during the massage, they pulled down the disposable underwear to massage us and even tore mine to access more of my body. The requirement to wear it feels silly. They served us tea and cookies after, which was very nice.

Not easy to find the location of hotel. We booked the private hot spring with dinner. The private hot spring room don’t look new and have areas to improve. The room for hot spring come with basic items like toilet, shower, hair dryer etc they also provided some food and drinks for us to use. It’s comfortable sitting or lying in the big tub with the hot spring water. No view from the window and we prefer to shut it for privacy, can hear people from downstairs. 90 minutes is more than enough to soak for 15 minutes for every interval. The dinner was good, the staff was helpful. We asked for shabu shabu pork when we arrived. The portion of food is a lot and came with dessert. It’s a small restaurant and only 3 tables occupied which was quite peaceful.

Room is nice but bathtub is not big enough for two. Dinner was good for the first three courses then the beef was quite tough and the desert was pre-made and been sat in the fridge for a while. Dinner service was good and efficient.

This hotel looks grand in photos with the giant bookcase, but it's quite misleading as it's far away from a 5 star hotel. The guest experience usually starts with check-in. The staff at the desk are polite, but work and talk extremely fast to herd the guests into the rooms and out of their faces as soon as possible. This is not pleasant for guests who wish to check in to an onsen hotel with the purpose of relaxing. The front staff are better suited as operations managers at a factory. The rooms themselves are very dated. The amenities are Hermes but they are not enough to compensate for the very old and small rooms. The public onsen for women was closed for renovations when I was there. I booked the hotel for the onsen. The guests should have been notified prior to arrival. Overall it's a 3.5-4 star hotel feel with a 5 star cover.
