The hotel is quite lovely and the room is spacious. The included breakfast is good. On the downside, we had two rooms both of which had a very predominant sewage smell. When I examined the piping under the sink I noted that there is no drain trap, the shower drain is probably the same. This configuration allows sewer gas to freely flow into the rooms, especially if you leave the bathroom fan running. You may think this would help, but all it does is create negative pressure in the room, making the smell worse. We travel with a drain cover which we put over the shower drain and used a rubber glove filled with water to cover the sink drain. This helped but didn’t completely eliminate the issue. Problem #2 is the beds, they’re old and worn out, in desperate need of replacing. The staff is wonderful and none of this is their fault. The company that did the remodel of the hotel didn’t take plumbing 101.

We stayed for 4 nights. Our room was very large and was serviced daily. The owners are very helpful and friendly. They helped us with laundry, local information and hiring motorbikes. The location is incredible. You are right next to the hill, museums, temple, bars/ cafes and night markets. We decided to go back to this hotel after we spent a few days away in Nong Khiaw.

Location great. Owners lovely people. However, no smell upon arrival but by next morning sewer smell in both of our upstairs rooms pretty strong. No pea traps, no where for the odor to go. The beds were hard not unusual but the smell was tough. Tried to block drains when not in use with our own plastic bags. We stayed 5 nights after telling the owner first thing about the smell there was no offer to get drain plugs or other solutions.
