A comfortable and smart hotel. At first the entry and registration with codes took me a while and I was a bit confused between entry code, reservation code and room code, but then it was a good experience. The hostel is overall quite clean and has a central location close to Claraplatz and the river, as well as many services, including basic wifi. In the room I had a wardrobe, several towels and a hair dryer, the soaps and creams were very good! There is a room to leave your suitcase and a shared bathroom for the day of departure. There is a kitchen with a fridge and a shared living room with soft music, armchairs and books to read in various languages. The decor is very nice, if I had more time I would have liked to make friends with the other guests. Just outside there is a nice fountain, city features and on the corner a vegetarian restaurant. There is free water and glasses (drinks for a fee). The hotel is automated, but it is possible to make requests via Whatsapp.The Basel card for free transport in Basel and discounts in museums etc. is included. Disadvantages: a bit expensive, but average for Switzerland (better to book in advance), there are no mosquito nets, in my room there was no desk and I had to study! (For Italians: There is no bidet, but this is common).

Good location, but the concept of self checking needs to be improved as the 24/7 chat line didn't work for me when I needed assistance, and the self check-in took me 30mins. I get the good value for money but the room was very small with even smaller bathroom, the sink was in the foyer between the room and the entrance with very little room to put my suitcase. I would pay little extra to have more comfort elsewhere

Undoubtedly, it is an excellent hotel. I stayed with my wife stayed here a couple of nights. The room was very neat and clean, decorated with all necessary facilities and rituals in the shower. The staff were very friendly, polite and informative - we had a few questions we asked them via chat. Everything is available in a walking distance from the hotel. We enjoyed a lot seeing the sights.

The check-in was a nightmare. I have booked 2 nights but due to the cancelled flight we will only stay one night and because of that I ask to enter the room earlier the second day. The chat says it was possible but was not. It was a 1-hour chat and finally, I found the housekeeper a Serbian lady (thanks to her we entered in the room) who helped me. The room was not prepared and was dirty, which is not fine. The chat wrote to me at 3 am to ask me about details for the Basel card. In short, I do not recommend this hotel. The only good things are the lobby and the location.

Location is excellent. The self check-in is not the easiest to use ... I arrived at 22.00 and the last thing I wanted was to try to figure out how to check in !!! I had problem with the tablet check in (if you have a booking reservation, the correct way to input your reservation number is to REMOVE THE DOTS.. but of course had to find out by myself); when I finished the check in I wasn't told that I would receive an email with the room lock number, a simple message on the tablet ("thank you for check in, you will receive an email shortly" or something like that) would have been helpful .. the email took 5min to reach my inbox so I was panicking ... luckily I am good with technology so I managed at the end but the following night I had to "rescue" a French couple that was outside waiting for help (it was around 21.30, and -1degrees so not ideal to be stuck outside panicking with no idea how to get in!!!). The room is older and less pretty than on the pictures. Maybe some artwork on the walls would have been nicer, instead there was only a single nail sticking out, at the exact height where my head could have hit it ..... No tv in the room. The only armchair in the room was placed underneath where the "wardrobe" was (just a set of hangers), so there was really no point having an armchair if when I try to sit down I have all my hanged clothes on my head! The electricity plug near the bed was a bit faulty, my phone never fully charged (but it did with the plug next to the exit door, so it was definitely the plug..). The bathroom was a bit old, the skirting from the toilet to the room was coming off and I almost injured myself twice. the showerhead was weirdly placed. The communal areas are so pretty, really a lovely style ... it's a shame that the same care wasn't applied to the rooms !!! Good hotel to stay a night or two, but I am not sure I would be back.
