I would say it can be a good experience but could be better. It is a beautiful hotel, and it is located on the main street in Banff with easy access to everything you need. The stuffs in the room was limited and you had to pay for the parking while staying there. The room was clean and they were always there for you while you wanted help. In total, a good experience.

Good place to stay in Banff. More cost effective than the other places. I read some reviews the restaurant was not good, so I did not go. Had a loft room with a fireplace, fun novelty to spice up a hotel room. But definitely got tired of going up the stairs after a while Water pressure in the shower was amazing! They do have an elevator to the upper level which was nice. Pool was not available, which I wish I would have known. Hotel is a bit of a jaunt to the main thoroughfare, but the bus passes right by if you don't feel like walking.

We recently started at the Charltons and for a young couple in their 30s I have to say overall it was an enjoyable experience. The King loft room was spacious and comfortable and brought all the amenities you would expect. The location was about 15 minutes walk to the Downtown core, which might not be for everyone but was fine for us. However there are closer options of course. Wifi worked great and overall quiet. Two little pet peeves were that parking was not free, although very affordable, unlike listed on their profile. The temperature of the room kept fluctuating between far too cold with the AC unit max speed blowing cold air straight onto your body with no way to change the angle. Then it became too hot too fast if you turn it off in the loft. The hot tub was closed. Where the big disappointment occurred was in the morning. The lobby is closed 11pm to 7am, and although they do have a buffet (not included) breakfast it also starts at 7am. We were up and waiting downstairs before 7 as we had our long drive home, and there was not a soul seen in that lobby until 7:08am. When we were let in we were told that breakfast would be a little bit longer. We were told to enjoy some coffee while we waited, which turned out to be yesterday's leftover cold coffee and finally left the lobby around 7:15 to find McDonald's because they still had not prepared breakfast. There were other morning travelers in the lobby as well at that time who were sharing in the disappointment. So for anyone who stays in the future, just be aware of the fact you might not have time to wait for breakfast at the hotel if you have early morning travel plans.

This place actually exceeded my expectations. Does look fantastic from the outside but the rooms were very nice and the beds were pretty comfortable. The pool is not that great but we didn't care about that. Visited Banff for the outdoor activities not hotel amenities. I loved that they let you take bikes for free. We used this service quite often. They even have some bear spray available for hikes if someone hasn't taken it already.

So we stayed here on the 1st to the 4th December. Booked the loft room which we thought would be really nice as it was for my girlfriend’s birthday getaway. Granted room is nice but very very dated. First night we returned from dinner in the town to find out somehow our bathroom just locked itself from the inside. Granted this was fixed but we couldn’t shut the bathroom door because it would just lock itself again. Also that evening when we went to get a drink of water the tap in the sink didn’t actually have any running cold water… The second night again we returned from having dinner in town to be greeted by our key cards not being able to open the door to our room… again it was rectified but two nights in a row things going wrong. The third night is what really took the piss, all was going fine we climbed into bed and fell asleep, at 2:30am we were greeted with extremely loud screeching which was coming from the AC unit above our bed. Do say we were angry and stressed out is an understatement. I got up called the front desk no answer… walked down there when it was -15°c no one was even on the front desk! No numbers were left other than an emergency number which is just the security guard that I rang and he said there’s nothing he could do. So I rang there sister business and they sent someone over and all he said was “there’s nothing I can do you’ll have to wait till morning” well no I’m not staying up all night. You couldn’t access the AC controls because it’s in a lock box?!! The stupidest thing ever. I emailed the manager and by the looks of previous reviews she doesn’t even seem to care to follow up on previous complaints. I would highly advise not to book or stay at this hotel there’s are many better options and I highly recommend staying next door at the Caribou Lodge it is 100x better. We cancelled a stay later in the year for when my family visit because we hated it that much.
