I am an Indian and am Brown in facial features. I found a white restaurant staff only check with Black or South Asian-looking guests about their room numbers when they came for breakfast. I had a bad experience with this staff person when I went for breakfast on the last day of my stay. I was taking food from the buffet when he popped up behind me and started blabbering loudly in French. I turned around and asked him to speak in English. He was insulting and sarcastic in tone (totally uncalled for) and asked me in a rather sarcastic tone in English if I remember him. I was taken aback because I had not seen him before, but after seeing his uniform, I realized he had probably asked for my room number in French before perhaps as a procedure. But I could not remember my room number instantly as I was still processing the loud tone and yelling. He glared down at me while I was trying to mumble what I thought it was. Since I did not want trouble I showed him my room key. In that instant, I remembered my room number and told him it was 545. This behaviour seemed only because before he asked me this I took a moment to understand his French before responding to him. Of course I did not remember him in that moment, since I hadn't seen him before till that day. But after that problematic moment, which left quite a bad taste in my mouth, I observed him during the rest of my breakfast to make sure I was not imagining racist undertones and reacting without facts but then I did notice him asking only black people their room numbers. Not to mention that particular day, nothing was being replenished on time. I am willing to believe it is a one-off case with this particular staff, but I do think they need to train people. I felt quite insulted by the tone and the assumption he took and also for him to yell at me in a restaurant when I was not facing him. People stared at me till I showed them the key. Unfortunately, this is all I remember from my experience at Ibis. I am unable to shake it off.

I want to share how terribly the Ibis hotel did. We booked a room in this hotel for the month of December. In our country Israel, WAR began in October and all our flights were canceled. We contacted the hotel over and over again and hoped that these people would understand our situation and cancel or reschedule our visit. Because what happened in the country is not our fault, and the airport is not working. We were ready for any of their conditions so as not to lose the big money that we paid. But unfortunately, they don’t even want to hear about rescheduling or cancellation. This is terribly unpleasant of them towards us. I would like to bring to your attention that this hotel does not make concessions and their service is terrible and inhumane. They only see money, not clients. Bookig contacted them more than once about any condition so as not to lose money, they didn’t even want to hear. Shame and shame!!
