Visiting this hotel was the most upsetting and outrageous experience during my stay in Istanbul. The owner refused to return our passports and luggage when our card payment didn't go through. We had to call the police to retrieve our passports and leave. My friend and I made a reservation through a third-party app, but due to a software issue, the card payment was not accepted, and we unintentionally created two reservations instead of one. Since we didn't want to spend all our cash on the reservations, fearing that we might not be able to withdraw more money from ATMs due to the same issue, we decided to walk away. We were willing to resolve the payment issue with the third-party app later. However, the owner refused to give back our passports and luggage, arguing that it was fair since we hadn't paid for the reservations. After a lengthy and heated discussion, we had no choice but to call the police. While waiting for the officer to arrive, the owner suggested that we pay for one night and then our passports would be returned. We declined the offer, and after a few more minutes, they eventually returned our belongings. The police officer hadn't even arrived at that point. This whole ordeal consumed most of our workday. Frankly, we should have considered pressing charges, as withholding our passports was a criminal offense in itself, but we were too exhausted at that point.

I visited istanbul on 22nd of aug2022 with my family and booked in ottomans pearl hotel, The hotel in the Sultanahmet district the room very clean and the staff was very friendly and having nice hospitality and welcoming. Especially receptionist Boris and Cevahir they feel us at home by changing room from ground floor to upper floor with rest of the family. The breakfast was excellent by Cevahir who always prepare different main dishes. I recommend everyone to choose this hotel for quite and good service. Thank you again And wish you the best.
