We stayed at that property for 1 night. The self-check-in instructions were clear and easy, and had been sent one day in advance. It was a room in a private house with a shared kitchen, a few bathrooms and toilet facilities. The house is centrally located not far from the town hall. There was a comfortable bed, a small coffee table, a wash-basin, a mirror and a hanger in the room. We were also pleased to have coffee/tea facilities, such as an electric kettle, cups, some ground coffee, sugar, some tea. The room was quite spacious and warm as there were some heated radiators. Overall, that homestay can be recommended if a guest agrees to share bathrooms/toilets/kitchen with other guests.

spacious room equipped with a kettle, cups, tea & coffee. three bathrooms were working and one had washing machines with a cash payment system (money jar, 1000 ISK). the location was perfect. the only complaints would be the lack of an info email before arrival (a quick phone call was enough to arrange the check-in) and the lack of any signs outside the building to be sure one's in the right place.

Whats good: The location is okay. You only have to walk 10 Minutes to the beginning of the city-centre and the old harbour is around. Good room-sice. Whats bad: The bathrooms havent been clean, in my room the drinking glasses have been dirty, there have been a few brocken things like picture frames. Everything seemed to be a bit old. The information from the host isn´t up to date. There is no locker room for the luggage, I couldnt finde one and you have to pay in the "west" area for parking. The host couldn´t be reached by phone or the booking plattform. Also you can hear a lot of noise, espacially from the neighbours/guests above.

It was a great start to our trip around the country. The room was big enough to move around with all the bags we had, later we have seen many other rooms in which you cannot even open your luggage. The self check in is also my new favourite thing, it was really easy to get in and out of the place, especially if you have unusual arrival and departure times, obviously. But it is something to appreciate if you remember the olden days when you had to catch the receptionists on a day when everything is outrageously delayed. Fortunately, everyone else staying there in that period was also very respectful of their surroundings, we have found the toilets and showers clean, and they stayed that way till the end. The kitchen was also very clean, and you can find almost anything you need. It's incredibly stocked up, after seeing the prices in the supermarkets I can imagine people having to buy everything in bulk even just for a few days. Apart from the stuff like sugar, salt, coffee, tea and milk, which you can find in the rooms, there were also all kinds of leftover pasta, breakfast stuff, butter, jams, and various spreads, butter, olive oil, condiments, and many more. I'm not saying that you should count on finding your whole daily nutritional intake, just buy whatever you need before going in. But I guess there is a great chance of finding stuff in that kitchen that you think you may have forgotten. Actually, if you take your tea or coffee with milk, just check the fridge before opening the new carton in your room, I'm sure there will be a couple more freshly opened ones in there waiting. Maybe we can prevent further food waste. And, last but not least, appreciate it, as it will probably not be the case for other guest houses around the island. The location was also great for me, it's not exactly in the centre, but it is very central. Easy to find. There are also many spots to park your car in the area. We have spent a full day in the city and had a few trips back to leave some stuff back, use the toilet and put on/take off extra clothing with the changing weather conditions. What I mean to say is that the location makes it all possible. Sorry for the long text, I hope it helps, have a nice holiday!
