Firstly Lorenzo was a great host, he provided us with information about where was best to eat, where and which bus or metro to take and how long it would take to walk to various places. He even allowed us to leave our luggage when we checked out as we had an evening flight, this was of course extremely helpful and we were very grateful. The location is also very good, is a 7 minute walk to the coliseum and the roman forum and lots of nice restaurants nearby to eat at. The room was adequate for us but agree with other reviews about the small bathroom and we also had the issue about the AC leaking if running for too long and the mini fridge also didn't seem to be plugged in, but this wasn't a big issue for us overall. Overall I would recommend this place for the location and Lorenzo.

We had a wonderful staying in Soggiorno downtown! It's a really nice place, with moderate prices, located in the centre of Rome. Although via Cavour has traffic, the hotel is surprisingly quiet, due to double windows. It's simple, warm, and we especially have to mention senior Lorenzo! He went above and beyond to accommodate us. He is kind, polite and very helpful. We'll definitely stay there again!

Shockingly disappointing. The hotel is nothing like its representation on the booking platform, and the reviews seem to belong to a different place. I know finding good accommodation in Rome is tricky, but this is beyond anything you can imagine in your worst dreams. The location is great - that’s true, but the price you have to pay for this is small and shabby rooms, sloppy treatment, indescribable breakfast with probably the most terrible coffee I’ve tried in my entire life. The worst thing is that the host refused to shorten our reservation even though we could rightfully claim it. Long story short, stay away.

If you choose to stay here, please know what you’re getting yourself into. This is NOT a 3-star hotel. It is a 2-star B&B AT BEST. We were told upon check in that we must pay in cash, which was not listed on the website. The rooms were very dirty, with hair on the bathroom walls, toilet, and our breakfast tray. The toilet paper rolls were reused from last guests. There was left over trash from previous guests in the drawers. The bed was as if sleeping on a box spring alone. The mini fridge was unplugged. We were told we could not leave on the AC as it would drip down the wall and break, however, the AC did not work anyway. The bath towels were stained. The bath rug was visibly turning black from dirt. The shower was too small to be functional. Only 2 outlets in the entire room. We tried to check out after one night as we did not want to pay in cash, but rather credit card as we had provided during booking. The owner did charge us for all 4 nights (on the credit card which he was somehow unable to accept upon check in), which is undesirable but understandable due to the cancellation policy. However, when we told him we were checking out because we did not have the cash to pay for all 4 nights in these conditions, he kept coming in and out of our room harassing us over paying (even after we told him just to charge the balance to our credit card). My father stated to him that I was changing as he tried to push past him into our room. 5 minutes later, he opened the door with no knock while I was standing completely undressed in the middle of the room while my father was in the bathroom. Was a very stressful and shady experience. Definitely NOT as advertised. The best price you will find for this location in Rome, but not worth it in my opinion.

The location is the best aspect of Soggiorno Downtown. It's nearby the Colosseum and other attractions like Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and Vittorio Emmanuel. There are also a lot of food places around the area. At first we didn't expect a lot but by the end of our stay we found it homey and pleasant. The owner was welcoming and helpful. The accommodation is overall good, and the rooms are clean. Decent breakfast, I think it's pretty much a standard European breakfast if I compare it with the other hotel accomodations that were in buffet style, it had boiled eggs, yogurt, croissant, packed french toasts with butter and jam, juice and coffee.
