Overall a decent stay for the price. Front desk was rude and seemed bothered to help us or check us in. There's not much for parking, and it's a pretty far walk from everything. Rooms were clean and everything worked, breakfast was decent.

NEW OWNERSHIP 01/01/2024 PLEASE READ. We booked this hotel the first week of 2024 after reading the great reviews from previous years. Be aware, new ownership of the hotel renders that all a lie and the entire website is a sham. We arrived to find the most insane check-in process imaginable. We were locked out of the hotel and let in by another guest who spent 2 hours the day prior trying to check in. You are apparently supposed to call a phone number to a non-working number and then e-mail an automated account for access into the building. We then received a youtube video with instructions for their horrendous luggage storage unit below the lobby with no code to access it either. This entire barbaric process wasted at least the first two hours of our day. Eventually, our room was ready (at 3PM not 2PM as advertised) and we received a code and room number from a woman in a call center somewhere else. There is not a single person available at this dreaded place to help you. Even housekeeping cannot be found and requires some sort of digital call (to a number that doesn't work) or e-mail for a simple new towel. Please save yourself the trouble and book at another location which has at least one capable human on-site to assist with anything. This hotel experience was really the one negative aspect of an otherwise amazing trip. The one bright side is the camaraderie and friendship you will develop with other guests trying to check in and our of this miserable place with zero instructions or assistance. It is truly a the worst aspects of both hotels and AirBnbs combined into one experience.

Fab location close to city centre and the often used bus pickup point 12 opposite Storm Hotel. Current building works opposite did not affect our stay. Really good buffet breakfast with excellent local bread, cereals, fruit, skyr, ham, cheese, pate, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers etc. Only a small communal area but there is a free tea/coffee machine available. Our room was a good size for 3, so space was not a problem. Excellent desk staff from 8am to 8pm who could not have been more helpful.

I'd give 3.5 stars if that was an option. Not a bad experience on the whole but there's room for improvement. Pros: good price, friendly customer service, continental breakfast included, free parking technically available Cons: the room smelled and in general just felt very worn and kind of dirty, the free parking was EXTREMELY limited and difficult to navigate due to construction across the street, it was a 20ish minute walk to most restaurants and sightseeing spots A decent option for those on a budget who want to stay in Reykjavik, but if the free on-site parking is part of the draw, look elsewhere.
