We stayed at the Hotel Belle Epoque the first few days of September this year. We found the hotel met our needs in every way. In particular, the service we received from the staff was above our expectations. Everything possible was done to accommodate us and make our stay pleasant. Rooms are pretty, if not fully updated, beds were comfortable, snacks and water were provided, and everything was very clean. The bathrooms in the two rooms where our family stayed were great, shiny clean and had some nice amenities. We liked our breakfast and the service there, as well as in the bistro, was just as we liked. Location is wonderful. In short, we had no complaints and much to praise.

Location is great. Rooms are clean. HOWEVER... No way it’s 3 stars. No air conditioning, no staff after 8pm, you have to go to reception if you need anything - no phones in room (they forgot to give us towels). And in the 21st century of technology there are limited outlets in odd places. They lock outer doors at 8pm and give you a second key to let yourself in. This is a bare bones… absolutely zero frills hotel.

Well, I think it's fair enough to give 3 stars to this Hotel. It does locate centrally in the Old Town of Bern. The hotel staff is friendly although hotel itineraries are very standard. Breakfast with extra charge, no free parking (the public parking lot was super expensive!). The room was cold. The light in the room was too dark. Save, a small coffee maker was available. Nevertheless that was a nice weekend in the winter season in Bern.

The worst experience ever with extremely disrespectful stuff, who mixed with our reservation and would put us in literally under the roof, in the attic, on a small double bed instead of two single beds. It was not acceptable, therefore they changed a room for a night. Tone of voice was even hard to comprehend: we were generously given thirty minutes to pack and move to another room, because the room we stayed in was reserved for their regular client. That's when enough is enough.
