BreakFree Peninsula Resort

Ordered 2x deluxe rooms although received 1x deluxe and 1x standard, the hotel is looking into this although hasn’t yet responded despite multiple enquiries. I can understand this could happen in peak holiday period, although we ordered many months in advance, so this is really just bad planning by the hotel whom haven’t yet acknowledged their mistake. The deluxe room was great with no real problems, beyond the children being scared of the height (nothing anyone can do about that) and a minor tripping hazard causing multiple stubbed toes, with a small step up into the kitchen from the lounge area and same again into the room exit doorway. The standard room was honestly very average in comparison, we had a faulty door handle, locking the children in the room one night, the handle fell off and with no tools handy, the children were trapped inside. The room had faulty lighting and turning on the fan in the master bedroom turned on the room lights in the kids bedroom in the middle of the night (waking them up), no clothes drying rack, a faulty shower head that shot towards the roof when turned on with any level of water pressure and the room didn’t look like it has had any upgrades since the 1970’s; which was all quite disappointing in contrast. This room needs some significant upgrades and maintenance to consider it 4 star. If the standard rooms were all the same as the room we received, I wouldn’t recommend it and it was a blemish on our otherwise great family holiday… thankfully it’s just a room and the rest of our Queensland 2023 trip was good. The staff offered good service and were caring although still no acknowledgment of the disparity in the quality of the rooms from the hotel. I’d call the deluxe room 4 stars, although the leather lounge was in desperate need of replacement. The standard room I’d call it 2.5 stars and we’ll be seeking a partial refund for the difference between the two rooms for the 5 nights. Will update this review once the matter has concluded with the hotel. The pools were great and the kids had a good time in both the indoor and outdoor pools. The gym looked well equiped although we never tried to use it. Thank you.
