This moderately priced hotel in the center of downtown, on the main shopping street, just a block away from Parliament and within walking distance of innumerable shops, restaurants, and attractions was surprisingly good. Lobby? Very cool, and decorated in a fun and funky way. Lift? Almost like a loft. Room? My lowest priced single room was spotlessly clean, sparsely decorated, incredibly functional, and surprisingly quiet for being right across from The Drunken Rabbit Irish pub. Quirks? 1. Advised them that I would be arriving between 1130pm and midnight, and was told 24 hour front desk. On arrival, I waited 15 minutes outside in a freezing windy night until the person opened the door (was doing laundry, and left the desk). 2. Daytime staff incredibly helpful. 3. My room was on the top (6th) floor facing the main shopping street. The single bed was inches from the glass wall that ran the entirety of the room. Luckily, the drapes helped for privacy but the heating unit was behind the drapes when you closed them. 4. Really early check out at 445am found the front desk person sound asleep on the lobby sofa. Had to wake him up to check out. For the price and location, this is a great choice. Recommended.

Amazing location in the heart of Reykjavík. The hotel, staff , room , all of it was exceptional. We always had a welcome when coming in and help with any of our questions re how and where to go and eat etc. we would stay here again in a heartbeat. Again the location could not be beat!!!! Book it with confidence. We stay at a lot of hotels for work . It was cozy, comfy and clean.

We arrived around 9:30PM and were warmly greeted. The staff are very kind and helpful. The lobby is colourful and inviting, and we got a room upgrade which was a beautiful, spacious room, with a bath tub! The room was really clean - there was no dust even under the bed. The beds are super comfy, good pillows, good duvets. The only note is that it can get noisy, but the room also provides ear plugs which totally block out the sound well :) Of course, we must highlight our favourite feature of the hotel - Baktus the cat!

The staff of this hotel are very welcoming and helpful. The lobby is a very eclectic collection of art pieces and furniture that is comfortable. And there is one cat as well! While it is an older hotel the rooms have been refreshed and are comfortable. There is also a charming lift that you can use to get to various floors. We stayed in this hotel before we started an eight day ring road tour. We returned to it at the end of the tour for a night before we flew back to the States. I can't say enough about the owners of the hotel, Johanna and Niels, and how helpful they were in assisting us. I discovered after we checked in following the tour that my phone was missing. Johanna helped us search for it on the streets and then contacted the tour company to see if I had left it on the bus. It had fallen out of my jacket and, fortunately, had been found on the bus. Niels drove his car to the tour company's office and retrieved it for me. It was delivered, by him, to our room. Now that's service that says how much you care about your guests and how great the people working at the hotel are. That same kind of service was in evidence the next morning as Xavier, at the front desk was assisting a number of people who had cancelled flights due to weather. I don't know when I might be back to Reykjavik but I do know where I will be staying, the City Center Hotel Reykjavik!

The front staff went above and beyond when my friend and I arrived at the hotel, only to discover the booking error I had made. Of course, "our" room was booked, but with some creativity, we had our four nights in what is now my definite go-to hotel in Reykjavik. The staff are amazing! Best in any hotel I have booked in. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel decor is funky and fun, right down to the full-size horse with a headlamp. Loads of good places to eat and drink close by. As are bus stops #1 and #3 for tours and airport transfers. There is a resident cat! 'Nuff said?
