Interesting experience for a first stay in Hokkaido. The initial impression is a little impersonal with a fairly indifferent staff at check-in. Information about hotel policies and facilities was provided in a prompt and efficient manner and covered all important points about spa usage especially. The room is well designed in terms of its aesthetic, and it is a relaxing space. If you are traveling with a lot of luggage or as a family, I would plan on booking a larger or corner room as storing our bags in a remotely unobtrusive way in our twin room was essentially impossible. There are several hangers and a rack for hanging clothes but essentially no room to put clothes down anywhere. A note on the spa; compared to Japanese onsen, the atmosphere among guests was a little bit rowdy and made it hard to enjoy the shared space, so I didn't make use of the facilities. The hotel seems to cater to young couples so do expect very awkward elevator rides... The location is great as has been stated by most other reviewers. Overall, a posh and affordable place that will satisfy young travelers who value having their lifestyle validated by various amenities that older or more experienced travelers can probably do without.

We had a lovely stay at the Sapporo Granbell Hotel. Rooms were clean and modern, with the BEST shower. Breakfast buffet offered a great variety of Japanese foods. My only complaint during our stay was the mirror in the bathroom; very harsh overhead lighting that made putting on makeup impossible. I had to use my iPad camera over by the window. Other than that, this property had everything we needed!

Very convenient location. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is pretty good. Room is a bit small. The bed is at top notch. The spa is usually pretty crowded.

Good value and next to tanukikoji, but the bath has some problems. Shower areas dont drain well so there was standing water. Also some other people dont know how to behave and left dirty towels next to the main bath. My wife saw a group of foreigners enter the bath in their slippers and underwear (very dirty), probably because there are no instructions in English on how to use the bath.
