Hotel Riu Arecas - Adults Only

Good hotell for the money and dinner is always included and the food is very okey. The pool are are good where you can swim and there is an area next to Riu Palace by the sea where an infinity pool are with a bar is included in the hotell area. This is a clasdical old luxury hotell with very good service. But a warning, this is an hotell for old retired Germans so the TV only have 3 movie channels in English and no English news channels. The biggest warning i that Germans put out towels everywhere so it is hard to find a chair in the sun close to the pool especially the infinity pool and the only use it for 2-3 hours a day but they are occupied. But it is close to El Duque beach which is the best beach at Tenerife.

Would give the Riu Arecas 4.5 stars if I could. The rooms were very good and clean. There was good storage, a fridge that could be stocked as a mini bar on request. The aircon worked very well in the room and throughout. The food was extremely good, with good options for the whole week we stayed. However my partner is vegetarian with a nut allergy and we found that although they have a good food labelling system it wasn't always implemented correctly, with labels incorrectly placed or sometimes indicating a dish was vegetarian when upon closer inspection it wasn't. Also, often due to the placement of dishes at the buffet there was high risk of cross contamination between foods through people using the same serving tongues. Finally there was often a large selection of cakes / confectionery for dessert but almost without exception they all contained nuts, leaving my partner the choice of jelly, ice-cream or custard. These are definitely things that need improvement. We visited in August and although the resort was busy we were always able to find nice sunbeds at any time of day. The location is great, outside of town so nice and quiet and generally nice surrounding hotels in the area. There is a handy bus stop outside the front of the hotel and a nice walk along the coast into town were there is a large selection of bars, shops and restaurants. We hired a car while we were there and had no trouble parking at the hotel (you need you room card to open the barrier) although the car park was always full after around 6 / 7pm when guests returned from their day trips). The evening entertainment was OK but not particularly varied as it was singers every night. There was sadly no daytime entertainment in the form of classes etc which would have been nice. Overall a very pleasant hotel which I would recommend.
