I don’t even know how to start. When I was a kid, I used to stay here all the time with my family and I don’t remember any cockroaches at all, but now my room was infested by them, specially behind the stand. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful at all times, but the hotel really needs a renovation. The carpet was stained with something red that seemed like blood and dusty, and the hotel room smelled like mold. The location of the hotel is perfect if you want to stay near Universal’s theme parks, but please it would better for you to spend a little bit more of money for a fumigated place than risking your health and your comfort.

The rooms are outright horrible - Bug infested, leaking, Mildew laced!! They had no better rooms as it was mentioned that they are rebuilding the hotel so no more $$ for upkeep of this existing hotel. Oh well, on the flip side, the breakfast was good! Strong Note: Families, you wanna keep your kids off this unhealthy place if you are looking to enjoy the stay/vacation.

Tl;dr, it was gross, the manager was rude, it felt run-down. How does this have 4 star average reviews? Everywhere was gross and sticky, the bathroom doors didn't close, the breakfast was hardly anything to speak of, from 8am to 10am. The bed. Ew. We turned down the sheets to tentatively get into bed, and found a gross stain on the sheets, matching on the top and bottom sheet (so we know it wasn't just a stain that "just didn't come out in the wash" because then those two sheets wouldn't have been paired together again). Do they even change the sheets between guests? It made me wonder about the towels and if other people's gross bodies were on those too? Thankfully the late night front desk was helpful and nice, giving us new sheets ("please let us put them on ourselves, thank you."). ..and the mattress was spotted and stained and noisily bouncy too. The manager was unhelpful when we called for the shuttle pickup from the airport. At 9:40pm he told us that the last shuttle was scheduled at 9:45 but was already full. "I won't let the driver take more people," and we would have to find our own way there, possibly by taxi. He wouldn't help us find the airport pickup spot so we could confirm this info first hand, or beg or pay the driver to make an extra trip instead of trying to find and pay and direct a taxi. Thankfully I found the driver before their 9:45 departure and they were helpful, and since we had no large bags, they fit us in (with seatbelts for everyone!).

I love the proximity of this place to a variety of ethnic eateries. The continental breakfast was not a big variety; yet worked for us. The carpet could use a deep cleaning as there were stains and the tub had soap scum. I cleaned before we used it because housekeeping was gone at the time we checked in. We were able to stay in the same easily accessible parking space all weekend as Icon park provided hours of entertainment for our teens!
