Review Updated: Completely ridiculous experience staying here!! This hotel needs to determine if it wants to be an airport parking lot or an actual Sandman hotel when it grows up: Came back from dinner one night and couldn't find a parking spot since the hotel offers long-term airport parking to generate revenue. Pathetic!! Had to park in Antarctica then walk miles to the nearest warming hole (side entrance). We booked a two night stay (business/pleasure) and shortly after check-in discovered that our "king sized" room for midgets was in complete shambles. Asked to get moved but was told this would only be possible after an attempt was made to unclog our toilet YUP! We've stayed in better have-a-nap motels than this apparent "Signature" location. Even though management tried their best to rectify/pacify with an offer of an upgraded room and a few credits - this process itself was a complete and utter joke. Upgraded room was no better - we practically couldn't shower during our stay. No chance in hell we were flipping a coin with another move + another room so we reluctantly stayed put. Sad to see that establishments such as these ask customers to pay a premium yet provide such subpar accommodations/hospitality. Felt as an unpaid room inspector during my vacation. Not my job!!! Surely there should be a well defined policy/process for this. Perhaps one exists - perhaps it doesn't. This by far was one of the worst hotel stays we've EVER had to the point that we are seriously reconsidering our commitment and loyalty to this hotel group as a result. Only bright spot was Craig from maintenance. Sadly we won't be staying at any other Sandman locations in Calgary in the future. Hilton here we come! Recommendations to management: (1) Tear the hotel down and make more room for more long-term airport parking and let this be the new MO for this property because its clearly evident that "hospitality" is a secondary focus here or at the very least create a well-defined long-term section in a corner of your lot. (2) Not every customer needs to be pacified with credits/perks - some just expect to pay a fair price for an equally adequate level of service(s) but this was definitely NOT it!

We had a wonderful stay at the Sandman. The room was sufficient, but as we checked in the evening of Christmas, we were worried about the service being unable to meet our needs due to the holiday. However, Melissa at the front desk was incredible and made our stay easy and dealt with all our requests and even upgraded us. We are very greatful for the assistance, especially as Melissa was the only member of staff available. Thanks again Melissa!

Stayed here on two separate occasions. Both times the room was clean, but the air conditioner could not be left on at night due to noise. What really made up for it though was the great customer service & transfer. We were able to check in 5 hours early and everything went smoothly. The lady who drives the airport shuttle is extremely sweet and it was so great talking to her, really had us forget all about the stress of traveling. They also have a great restaurant next door (Moxie‘s), really recommend going there!

We stayed at the Sandman signature twice in the last 3 weeks. We were evacuated from Yellowknife and came to the hotel for 2 nights at the start and end of our evacuation. We felt for the staff and wanted to comment on how hard they have all worked for the evacuees. We saw how they were treated by some patrons and how they continued to show up for work regardless of how hard it was on them. I want to apologize on behalf of Yellowknife for the way our unhomed population treated the hotel staff and everything they dealt with during the last 3 weeks. We had a wonderful stay and the staff were all so kind and pleasant to us. The deserve HUGE recognition for everything they put up with. Staff always took the time to smile and say hello, check if we needed anything and have conversations with us. We really appreciated it. If management or corporate sees this your staff deserve the most praise for all they have done!
