I stayed at the Sherry Frontenac a year ago. I loved the amenities and the access to downtown Miami's sprawling streets and beaches. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view from the window. The service was excellent, staff were very personable and it was easy to ask for anything I needed. I felt that I was looked after during my stay, the owners cared that I was comfortable. I also enjoyed the lobby space; the area is very inviting and allowed me to sit comfortably there for hours while I was meeting friends or making plans. Furthermore, the pool area was relaxing and beautiful; I was able to both relax there, swim in the day and night, and participate in social activities by the water.

Update: I checked out after one night. I could not take the smell. Upon check out, they gave me a receipt saying I was owed a refund. I never got the refund. So I called two weeks later and Luis Avila in accounting started yelling at me on the phone saying I could have printed my receipt at any time, anywhere - basically accusing me of trying to scam him. This is the worst run hotel in the entire world. The entire staff is poorly trained, infused with attitude, and should not be in the hospitality business. Stay far away. Unbelievable. ---- You don’t want to stay here. It’s not a real hotel anymore. The woman at the front desk is the rudest person I’ve ever had the misfortune of meeting. She sat there cursing at the computer trying to check me in for 25 mins. Then she cursed at me. It’s a shame because it was obviously once a nice hotel. Like 100 years ago. A little bit of courtesy would go a long way toward covering the blemishes. Unfortunately the attitude matches the dingy exterior. Many many better and less expensive options in the north beach area. Avoid this one.

I stayed at the hotel and truly had an amazing experience! It is a quiet historic hotel and I love this family business. Rooms were clean and up to date. The staff was kind and attentive. Location, you can't beat! Would highly recommend and I look forward to my next stay!

We booked on Expedia and when we arrived we waited for our check in time. By the way, the pictures are very deceiving. It seemed outdated. Needs a complete makeover. Their lobby activities including chess, 8 Ball Pool and table tennis were exceptional and fun. 5 hours later, we discovered that we had no room after several requests at the desk, who told us to wait until 4pm. After 4pm we were informed that our room was "broken" whatever that means. They said that they had no other options, so we requested a refund, which was the only good news we got. As a result we had to quickly find another hotel with our 4 children. The bathroom smelled like piss from the hallway. It seemed like one hard working old lady cleaning the whole hotel. Service would be -1 star if we could. Great service dies here. What a disappointing birthday gift for my wife. Do not book here. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Check in was long and slow. Once up to the counter, they told me that there were no more balcony rooms, even though I made the reservation directly on the website, which allowed me to pick and pay for a balcony room! They would not make an adjustment for the difference in price. The free parking is an unpaved gravel lot with no stripes next to the hotel, therefore, the parking is a free for all and haphazard...be careful if you have a nice vehicle. The room had a musty/moldy smell and is outdated with mismatched furniture. The hot water only worked for one day, the rest of the time it was lukewarm. The room attendant did not leave any wash clothes and they never sent any up after we requested them. We received one wash cloth from the front desk. When we went to try the restaurant, it was closed for a private party. The website does not accurately portray the poor/outdated condition of the hotel and the smelly room. The only good thing about this hotel is its location to the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Buyer beware.
