Agartala Airport is formally known as Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. It was previously called Singerbhil Airport. Its AITA code is IXA. It is located 12 km to the northeast of Tripura's capital city. The third-busiest airport in Northeast India is named after Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, who laid the foundation for the airport in 1942.
