There is no airport in Ujjain. Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport in Indore is the closest airport to this city. Indore airport, named after Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore's Maratha Empire, was built in 1945 to serve Indore and its neighbouring regions in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
