Summary: cozy and quiet room, friendly staff and nice location. We stayed for 4 nights, and booked a standard king room. The room was nice and quiet, and the front desk lady was very friendly. I want to call out specially that this hotel provides 2 reusable bottles, and the water machine is easy to access (next to elevator), which is earth friendly. The only issue is the expensive parking (>$40 per night), but there are multiple options if you are willing to walk for 5min.

My experience was unforgettable and not for good reasons. First the room I booked said I would have an ocean view and unless I stood at the window and looked at an angle the view was of the other side of the building. I was informed I could switch to a better view for an additional $75 but when I got to that room the view was far worse all I could see was the city unless I stood on the balcony at which point half of the ocean was covered by the buildings. Definitely not worth the $500 the room cost. But that was not the worst part, the worst part was I came to this hotel for the spa and even tried to book my appointment in advance however by the end of the booking threw email I was informed I was booking for a massage only which was not what I wanted. I wanted a facial and I had stated that. Then I tried to book for the next day but they gave me an appointment for 5 hours after check out. They did end up getting me in sooner but the facial was not worth the $200 it cost. I get facials often this was the first time I ever lift with scabs and pimples all over my face when I went in I had one pimple on my face. My skin was not left soft but rather dry. Over all I spent $700 for a one day stay that was not worth it. I will not be coming back nor will I recommend this hotel.

This was our second stay at the InterContinental. We stayed in room 333 which has one king bed, no fireplace, no balcony, and faces Cannery Row. We absolutely love this hotel; it is clean and beautiful. Its location is fantastic (right in the middle of Cannery Row). The last time we were here, we were allowed to take the luggage cart to our room. This time, however, we were told that a bellman MUST accompany the luggage cart. We highly recommend staying at this hotel if you don't mind paying the high prices. I think it's worth it.

Awesome location right by the aquarium. You can take the trail up to the beaches, explore the city, Starbucks is a block away, it has basically a perfect walk score. The hotel restaurant has amazing waterfront views, we saw otters, dolphins and seals during several of our breakfasts. The food and coffee were very good with a spicy theme. The room we stayed in was generously sized with good space for sitting, a nice view of the water, and a soaking tub. The hotel pool is narrow and cool (it looks almost like a shipping container pool) but functional, the hot tub was significantly under chlorinated. There is a small but functional gym with good ventilation. It was a noisy hotel with people talking late into the night and a lot of what the front desk called "locals" who seemed to think it was really fun to take the mufflers off their car and burn out in front of the hotel late at night. The small place across the street that really wants to be a nightclub makes up for a lack of patrons by playing loud music (with distorted bass) late into the weekend nights. If you do stay here a couple of tips about parking: The hotel has very high rates for parking and if you show up at 11:00 p.m. or leave at 6:00 a.m. you still pay for the full day. There is parking on the street in front of the hotel that as of the time of this writing was free from 8pm until 9am as long as you avoid the gold colored meters. You can park yourself in the same parking garage the hotel uses (which is off-site) for $20 without in and out privileges. Best option: If you are willing to walk about 5 min there is actually quite a bit of free parking. Just continue down Prescott avenue until you hit Hawthorne. We found ample parking for the whole trip. This saved us enough for another night or two stay if we had wanted. We also parked on the street for our first and last night to make loading easier.

I was struggling to give this place a fair review. My kids and I took an impromptu trip to Monterey and decided to stay at this hotel based on the reviews and location. All the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The hotel and room was very nice. My only complaint is the cleanliness. Upon first glance I noticed that there was some discoloration on the pillow cases and there was some minor dust and debris in the bathtub. I'm not a hotel snob so I wasn't too concerned about either. I rinsed the bathtub out and flipped the pillows over and everything was fine... then I woke the next morning and noticed a small stain on the duvet. Upon further inspection. I realized it was blood 🫤. I immediately called the front desk. They offered to send housekeeping but I was too grossed out at the point and I let then know I would be checking out immediately. The front desk offered to waive the $45 valet fee for the inconvenience.... I'm honestly not sure if I would recommend this hotel. As previously mentioned the staff were nice, and the hotel is beautiful. But now I'm second guessing the cleanliness of everything. After finding that stain I didn't want to touch anything, which ruined an otherwise good experience.
