Absolutely one of the best stays I've ever had. The staff is wonderful, the rooms are fantastic, and the food/drinks are incredible. We happened to stay here on our first time in chiang mai for 3 nights but we should have stayed longer. The hotel is a historic building from the Lanna colonial period and very close to the markets as well as old town. We'll be staying here anytime we come to northern Thailand in the future. Many thanks to the wonderful staff who made our trip.

I only went to the Nakara spa, but it was one of the best oil massage I ever had. No comparison to the cheap 400baht massage outside. If you are in Chiang Mai, treat yourself to a proper spa experience!

Over all 3 stars, reasons being - Quiet neighbourhood, no noise during evening, but room is very poorly maintained with many wear-tear, discolouration , and rust. Not a 5 star feeling. Friendly door man and front desk, HOWEVER, we found our safe in the room unlocked a couple of times after we came back to the room. Either it’s a bad quality safe or SOMEONE OPENED IT WHEN WE WERE GONE. Whichever the reason, the safe did not service its purpose! One last thing: we lost a small stack of notes (around few hundreds baht) in the last night of stay. Usually we’d assume the cash fell out of pocket or misplaced, but with the safe found unlocked so often, we wonder if anybody paid the room a quick visit when we left for breakfast? Sadly there is no way nor time to do anything. Conclusion: nice hotel building, but we will not return in the future nor recommend.

Very quaint Hotel. 50’s luxury. The guard/doormen even wear Pith helmets like they did in the 40/50’s. My only complaint, although petty, bugs me. After days of site seeing, I’d like to lay down and watch TV. No cable so no English programs. (Maybe one!). Option is dvd’s from the front desk. My dvd player didn’t work, so in halting English and hand gestures I explained the problem. They thought I didn’t know how to turn the set on! While I was gone they sent a guy to turn it on. DVD still doesn’t work, but I give up. I’ll stare at Facebook for an hour. It’s still a pretty cool place!
