About Rajahmundry Airport

Rajahmundry Airport is in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. 18 kilometres separate the airport from the city centre. The 366-acre airport was built during the British colonial era. It was used from 1985 to 1994 by Vayudoot, an Indian regional airline founded on January 20, 1981, as a joint venture between two state-owned carriers, Indian Airlines and Air India. The Andhra Pradesh government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in February 2007 to upgrade the airport. As part of the expansion plans, a new terminal's construction has been envisaged. The new terminal would be able to accommodate about 1,400 passengers. To accommodate aircraft like the Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 landing, the AAI is extending the current runway from 1,749m to 3,125m. Around 800 acres have been bought for this project. Due to the narrow runway, airlines fly smaller 70-seat turboprops like the ATR-72 and Q-400 into Rajahmundry. Passengers may readily locate cabs, taxis, car rentals, and buses to navigate around the city. At this airport, you can get connecting flights from Agra to Rajahmundry and vice versa via Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Delhi.

About Rajahmundry

Raja Narendra, a prince of the Chalukya dynasty that oversaw the city in the 11th century, inspired the city's name. The name of Rajahmundry was officially changed to Rajamahendravaram in 2015. In the Madras Presidency, the District of Rajahmundry was established in 1823 during British rule. In 1859, it was reorganised and divided into the Krishna and Godavari districts. East and West Godavari districts were created out of the Godavari district in 1925, with Rajahmundry serving as the administrative hub. The city serves as an important transportation centre for the region for goods like rice, salt, and lumber brought down from the forested hills to its north. The Central Tobacco Research Institute was set up here in 1947, the year of Indian independence. Kadiyam and Rajahmundry have over 3,500 acres of nurseries where various kinds of flowers are grown. The Central Floriculture Institute and Research Centre were established in Vemagiri to promote floriculture.

About Agra

The state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India is home to the historically famous city of Agra. Around 200 km southeast of Delhi, it is situated on the Yamuna River on the Indo-Gangetic Plain. With over 1.6 million residents, Agra is the fourth most populous city in Uttar Pradesh and India's twenty-third most populous city. Sultan Sikandar of the Lodi dynasty built the city as the centre of the Delhi sultanate at the beginning of the 16th century. Agra served as the capital of the Mughal empire for a while. It served as the principal hub of the Indian Mutiny and the provincial seat of the Agra region during the British Empire. The Taj Mahal is the most well-known landmark in Agra. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. It was constructed for Mumtaz Mahal, the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan's favourite wife, in the middle of the 17th century. Leather products, inlaid marble stone, and handmade carpets are among the products that make Agra a renowned handicraft hub. The city's economy is significantly influenced by tourism. Much of the Agra region is flat, with a few hills in the extreme southwest. The Yamuna River and the Agra Canal supply water to the area. Barley, cotton, millet, and wheat are among the crops farmed there. Fatehpur Sikri, another example of Mughal architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located 40 km southwest of Agra. Agra is a component of the Uttar Pradesh Heritage Arc, which includes Varanasi and Lucknow, as well as the Golden Triangle of Agra, Delhi, and Jaipur. Many travellers arrive in Agra from around the world to visit its historical locations.
